Welcome, Lori! With a houseful of kids, I'm impressed you can read at all. I started to get more reading done when my 2 kids were in school and I had a job where I actually got a 15-minute break that I could use for reading.
Many of us share your favorite genres. Feel free to check out our various threads, join our Winter Challenge, and share your reads with us as the year goes along.

I saw this group through a GR friend and thought it looked fun! The 52 books should tie in nicely with my year’s goal of 60 books.
I’m after variety in my reading choices, so this is a good way to achieve that. My favourite genres are historical, romance, Biblical, fantasy and mysteries.
Look forward to finding my way around here and joining the discussion threads!
Welcome, Julie! I see you especially like Georgian and Regency romance, as do I (also Historical fiction, fantasy and mysteries). If you would like to do our Winter Challenge, you can count any books you read since the date it started. We will have a Read-a-thon late in January and there are many discussion threads you are welcome to participate in.

I’m Rachel, sorry I joined last Nov/Dec but didn’t get a chance to introduce myself.
Im 31, soon to be 32.
I am a avid reader since childhood.
Cat mum to Binx 😊
Welcome, to you too, Rachel! No one is required to introduce themselves but we enjoy learning about you. As a childhood reader, you might like to chime in on our Weekly Question here

about the first books you remember.

Just joining the challenge in 2023, looking forward to stretching my reading!
Welcome, Helen! Don't worry, you will get many new ideas for reading here! (too many? no such thing!)

Great to have you, Rebecca! You can jump into our yearly challenge or quarterly challenge and count any books you read during the appropriate time.

Looking forward to joining the summer challenge. I hope I am keeping up with the posts correctly: I created a post with the summer reading list to update, I created my yearly list post to update, have answered a few weekly questions, and have added some reads to the spreadsheet.
Anything else to know?

My favorite books are historical fiction. I have a passion for Jack the Ripper and Chicago gangsters. I read a lot of mysteries and my TBR shelf is HUGE. I'm not much of a "planner"; I read what I am drawn to at the time.. I'm also a big sports fan...especially baseball.
Welcome! You picked a great time to join -- we are kicking off our 2024 list making process at the end of this month, so keep an eye out for it!

Welcome from another Robin! Yes, you can apply any books you read this year. Historical fiction is my favorite also, including historical mysteries. I'll have to check out your shelves!
**Wow, I just checked and our tastes are 88% similar, that is one of the highest I've seen. I will send you a friend request.

Welcome Robin! I did the exact same thing when I joined late in the year. This will be good practice. It’s a nice way to ease into the process. There is a lot of flexibility here, which makes it fun.

Welcome Denise! You are going to love the variety of ideas that come out of this group then! Assuming you have the summer off, be sure to follow the planning process for next year’s prompts. Check out the Wild Discussion thread if you haven’t already.

yes I will be sprung for the summer soon. I have been reading some of the ideas in the 2024 discussion but have not offered feedback yet.

Welcome Christine! I joined in June my first year doing the challenge and ended up finishing the year with exactly 52 books read -- the most I had ever read in one year. Here's hoping you have a successful first year!
Welcome Christine,
I lived in MN for over 25 years before moving a bit south to Wisconsin. Feel free to join in our Seasonal Reading Challenge if you like, as well as the year-long one. And you are just in time to participate in the crazy months-long ritual of nominating and voting for our books of the next year!

It might be because I have 34 GR friends in this group and some are very active (like Robin P). I may be too late for this year unless we can jump in and use any books we've read within the year, but hope to do this in 2024.

I am a fan of HF and Fantasy and I read a lot of NF. Looking forward to a new adventure in 2024
Welcome y'all! It's the perfect time to join -- we just started making our 2024 list. The polling process is a lot of fun.
You're welcome to use any books you've read this year and apply it to the 2023 challenge. We are very open and welcoming here... you won't find the book police in this group!

I'm in six F2F book groups, so those books always take precedence in my reading schedule. If they fit a prompt that will be a bonus!

Hi, Book Concierge. Nice to see you here. You, too, Karin!
Great, welcome friends! Happy to see you all here. I have joined several groups thanks to Book Concierge (who I think of as my GR Concierge too!) and we have been able to meet in person several times since we live about an hour and a half apart. Glad to return the favor!

Yes, Karin (and others), you can count any books you read in 2023 toward this year's challenge. So it's not too late and I know you are all big readers who will be able to fit your books in. In ATY, the rule is "if you say it fits, it fits" - "creative" interpretations of prompts are accepted, even appreciated.

Welcome Doc, and please feel free to retroactively assign books you've read this year to prompts. Lots of people do it that way and find they've read more than they realized!

Welcome! The rule in ATY is, "if you say it fits, it fits", so you should be able to find slots for almost anything you've already read this year.

I look forward to jumping in on the 2024 challenges. For now, I’ll just lurk, read all the threads and get the lay of the land! Thanks for having me.
Nicki wrote: "Hi, all! I’m Nicki and I live in Northeast Texas. Just retired so I have a lot of reading time available to me now! I’m hoping this group will lead me to new authors & titles I may not encounter on..."
Hi and welcome, Nicki! If you feel like it, you can still do the 2023 challenge by plugging in any books you read so far this year. But if you'd rather wait, that's fine too. We have monthly challenges, for instance the Autumn/Fall one just started, and we have weekly questions and other entertainments from time to time.

I'm Sarah. I have decided to do this challenge next year. working through all the things I have to do (feel a little overwhelmed) but this one was just introduce myself so that is a start. I live in Cambridgeshire and am an avid reader.. i read all different genres. I'm excited to make a plan and complete this challenge next year! so thank you for reading and hello!!
Welcome Sarah!
We are a very laid back group -- everything is optional, but we love participation. Don't stress yourself out about any of it, but if you have any questions, we are happy to answer them.

Welcome, Sarah! In taking on the 2024 challenge, remember the ATY rule is "if you say it fits, it fits". Creative interpretation of the prompts is allowed, even encouraged, so that they work for you. If you find yourself stuck on any prompt, you can consult the individual threads we have set up where we submit lots of ideas.
