First book starts out when the main char is a kid, He has the ability to SEE the sight lines of where people and camera's are looking and is able to avoid them (hide in the physic shadows). He uses this ability to sneak into his school one night to destroy a important test a girl he likes think she did badly on . on the way home from this he winds up killing 3 muggers inbetween fast pass's of a security camera. The police got involved with the security breach at the school and the guy in charge finds simularitys with the deaths. He puts a woman undercover in the main characters school. (This woman would later become main characters wife) .. story goes on.. after a while he is on the run. He gets into orbit by a small ship, is shot down over the moon. While hiding from the authorities he stumbles crossed a small cave with a sentient AI /spaceship.

The act of touching this spaceship (or any tech from the race who made it) sends out a Massive ping/wave that can be tracked. Other races in the galaxy have agreed to wipe out any group/species who comes in contact with this (forget) races technology ..Because it is too advanced.
