Help me find this book, please!

My friend's mom has been trying to find a genre children's (?) book that was read to her by a primary school teacher. This would be about 40 years ago-ish in Northern Ireland.

All she remembers is:

"trillions"
Perhaps, trillions of beads invading Earth.

Any suggestions or search help is greatly appreciated!

There's a character named Trillian in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but that's not really a children's book.

There is a book called Trillions by Nicholas Fisk. It was written in the early 70s. Not sure if that could be it or not.
