If you google it, there should be a listing of her included books! :) If there's somewhere on GR, maybe someone else could weigh in!

You can find the list (or suggestions for any of the weeks) in the "Suggestions for Each Week" thread.

I discounted a few with less than 50 reviews, and a couple on my Kindle which were collections of 2 or 3 novels ... That then brought me to The Sunne In Splendour which I would love to read .. But at over 900 pages and given my reading speed it's not for a quick fire weekly challenge!! I think that brings me round to Schindler's Ark which I am sure will be a good choice!! Of course it is also possible that my highest rated book will change as time goes on ... ...
Can anyone tell me please: if I create a new post in the A-Z folders for a new book, is there any way I can change the edition of the book in the "this book is about" box?? Sad I know, but I really hate to see a different cover than the edition I'm actually reading!!
I don't believe that you can :(
I noticed the same thing when I added a book for someone recently.

I think "this book is about" links to the default edition (the same which appears when you do a normal search). By GR standards, if I remember well, it's "the most rated+shelved".If you're reading a different edition, you can add the cover in your post :)
Darlene wrote: "What is the Rory Gilmore challenge and where do I find the list of books for it? Thanks!"The Rory Gilmore Challenge list is all the books that the character Rory Gilmore from the Gilmore Girls TV show read during the show. She was a voracious reader!
I've got those books listed on one of my bookshelves: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
The only ones that aren't exact editions are the travel books.
Laura wrote: "You can find the list (or suggestions for any of the weeks) in the "Suggestions for Each Week" thread."Thanks! Got it!!
Pauline - There is a way to do this, actually, but it's a little trickier. Instead of typing in the name of the book you have to type in the ISBN for the edition you want. So you'll have to track that down first if you want to link a specific edition.
Thanks ... If I look for an edition when just linking to a book in text I can find the ISBN that way, I think.
Not sure if this has been asked yet (didn't have time or patience to read through 7 pages of posts) but how do you post about a book in a thread where the title of the book is a link?I see others posting things like "I read Room for week X" and you can click on Room and it takes you to the Goodreads page.
I'm not clever enough to figure out how to do this so I end up just cutting and pasting the big long url into my post :(
TIA!
Above the comment box (top right), you have a link to add the book or the author, it's how we link the books and covers in the posts :)If you're using an app, it's not available on it, but you'll find it on your device browser when you're on Goodreads website.
I have added the Lacuna to the 'L' folder as my week 5 book, but for some reason it won't let me add the book link in the Topic box.I have gone back in to 'edit topic' and tried the book links for different editions of the book in case it was just that one of the links was dicky but they all come up with "Sorry, no results".
Can anyone help please? Many thanks x
Ah, I was wondering which problem you had. In "this topic is about", you need to use the title (+ author when there are several books with the same name and you can't see yours), not the book link :)
I don't know if this question has been asked before and it's not specific to our challenge but thought you mods may know...What do you do if the edition of the book you are reading is not available in the list? I mean I know you don't have to do anything but always like to have the correct edition I am actually reading. The page counts are off and honestly I am surprised as it was a hugely popular book last year and continues to be this year. I'm just surprised I guess that I can't find this one but older books you can find any!
I was going to try adding the edition myself but figured I would so it wrong :(
Amy, you need the edition ISBN10 and ISBN13 (or ASIN if it's a kindle). 1st, you use GR search to see if they don't already exist. If not: you go to the book page (using its title), click on "add a new edition" and enter all the informations (Amazon is the perfect source here for the cover and infos).
If you're afraid to do something bad, you can ask for a new edition on the librarian group (providing the GR link to the book page + amazon link). If you do something wrong, you can also ask them to correct the mistake, but not too often because we are busy :p
I saw some lists in my email that had red check marks next to books that the reader had finished. How does that work?
There's a bunch of symbols that you can copy and paste but I haven't been able to find a red check.

Ok so what's the difference between week 15 - a book set in the past and week 32 a historical fiction book? I'm trying to add The Poisoned Pilgrim but can't work out which of these 2 weeks it fits best for.
The 2 categories are similar because the historical fiction genre includes stories which are set in our realistic past. With #15, you can use a imaginary/mythologic past, go see some dinosaurs or pyramids, etc, and #32 can be about a more recent past. A story sets in 1600 can be used for both (for me it's more "in the past" because I'm not convinced that our historical knowledge is very good for the everyday life, but it's just my point of view). See what other book you want to use, maybe it will be easier to decide which goes where.
Also, a book that's set in the past might have been written at the time it was set (like Jane Austen, Charles Dickens), whereas historical fiction is written in a different time to when the book is set.
For Week 14 - A Book with One of the Five Ws or H in the Title (or other categories regarding titles,) do we include subtitles? It seems like cheating... e.g.: I Toto: The Autobiography of Terry, the Dog who was Toto
or The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here for?
or Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard
or Still Foolin' 'Em: Where I've Been, Where I'm Going, and Where the Hell Are My Keys
or The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business
or The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference
I lost my year list from 8 on to 52. I have tried to copy my copy and paste it, but it still only shows the first 8 books, when I go back to it. What do you suggest I do?
Katie - That is entirely up to you. We have always maintained that the challenge should be tailored to the individual so each member has to decide for themselves what they consider cheating. Some members are quite strict with their interpretations while others are more flexible.Valerie - I'm not quite sure what you mean. In your plan? Where are you only seeing the 8 books?

I think I will have to delete and start again. I was working on it the other day and I was informed that there was a problem with saving my list. That is when it happened. Grrr!
Oh! Did you leave it open for awhile while you were working on it? Like several hours? This has happened to me before. That little red box pops up and says there is an error.I'm not sure you'll be able to get it back, dear. I'm sorry! It's the worst. I learned the hard way myself to pull up notepad on my computer to make my lists and then copy/paste in the comment field.

So I had it saved on my computer, but that did not work. So I copied the group list and re-entered everything. I about have the thing memorized! Hahaha! I shall be more careful in future.

The new list now ends at 8, as well. I am Toast!
Jody wrote: "Maybe the universe is telling you only to read eight books this year lol."Well, who is the universe to tell me what to do!??! I think I have surpassed it. HAhaha!
Sorry if this has already been covered before, but can I use graphic novels/comic books (for instance Tintin) for my plan?
Yes, you can use any book you would like, Tia. Members should always feel free to tailor the challenge to their own reading style. You're welcome to follow it as loosely or strictly as you want.

I know this is dumb, but I'm struggling with the book that's 16th on my tbr list! It keeps changing as I read books! So I can't decide when to put the book in my list! If I put it now it will surly be different to when I actually get to read that weeks book.
I chose the 16th when I made my plan (it's probably no more the 16th now or won't be when I'll reach this category). Feel free to use your current 16th, even if its rank will change later, or to choose at the last moment :)

I'm not reading in order, but I reckon for this one I might wait until the correct week for this one and grab the book that's week 16 then. I've ordered my TBR list with the ones I know I'm going to be reading in the near future at the top (and then it's completely out of order and just a list of books i want to read.
I looked around to see if this answered already, so forgive me if I missed it!
If we're using the Wild Card to replace a week's challenge we're not into, do we report it and where?

You can add it into your personal plan (in the 2016 Plans folder) and create a thread for the book as you typically would. Make sure you check that there isn't already a topic for the book. Then when you comment you can just say which week you switched out.
I have tried multiple times to create a "dedicated shelf" (see home page for this group) and can't get it to copy over the name I am using in my "My Books" shelves. I have tried entering the exact same name of the shelf, and keep getting red error messages. It makes it look like I haven't read anything for the challenge. Very frustrating.Help!?
Laura wrote: "Are you entering "around-the-year-in-52-books"?"Hm...I was entering the title that I was using for my personal shelf-there are no hyphen marks in my title. Maybe that's the problem.
The A-Z area is just a way to organize the challenge discussion. So you pick your book for one of the prompts and then post it under the appropriate letter. For example:
Week 3: A book from the Goodreads Choice Awards 2015 (winner or nominated)
Book: Pretty Girls, by Karin Slaughter
Posted under "P"
