I was very hesitant at frist to speed my audiobooks because of the reasons you cited earlier that make you feel like "cheating" ;) But then I encountered some reeaally slow narrators and now I don't mind. On my phone, I can speed at 1.2 or 1.5, but I prefer the former, as it doesn't seem as unnatural. I'm currently listening to Phantom at 1.5 though, because there are so many repetitions that I'm bored and not afraid of missing anything.
I also use a faster speed (1.25 or 1.5) but it depends the narrator and the story. As english is not my language, if the vocabulary or what happens are complicated, I prefer the x1 but for other stuff, it's fine and for boring audiobooks, it's very welcome.I don't think different formats are cheating, not everyone has a lot of time alone at home to read. I'm 1h30 in car per day when I work so I was happy to keep my reading time near what I had when I didn't need to drive :)
Laura wrote: "I'm seeing the section on my desktop so I'm not sure. Maybe try reloading your page?"I'm still not seeing it. It jumps directly from W to Z.
Rachel wrote: "What happened to the folder for books starting with a Y in the A-Z section?"Oh dear, it's run away. Q and X are gone too but I assume that we haven't had any books starting with Q or X this year (But seriously no one read Queen of the Tearling or Sue Grafton's X this year???) Perhaps the mods are playing around with archive options for next year?

Actually I just checked and I read Quarter Share this year and I am almost 100% certain that I put all my books in the a-z folders so there really should be a Q folder. Odd.
I'm still seeing all of the letters, including X, Y, and Z. There is only one book under X but it is showing. I guess maybe wait a little while and see if they reappear. Zaz is out for the weekend and she tends to be our technical superstar :P
Checking in 3 hours later from my android phone and I am not seeing those folders on my laptop or here on my android. Hopefully it all works itself out soon. :-)
Now it has disappeared for me as well. I'm assuming it's some sort of bug but I can send in something to GR if it doesn't reappear soon.
EDIT: They all show up if you click "all" at the top of the list of discussions. So use that method until it gets ironed out.

Normally, old folders are hidden from the homepage when they are not updated since 30 days, but you can see them using Laura's method. I just changed it to 200 days :)

BookWyrm, for everything related to "How to use Goodreads", check their help section, it's too long to explain people how to use a website ;)https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/3...
Can anyone tell me please ... I edit my reading plan post every time I finish a book, but it still shows as last updated in January and appears on approx page 7 of that category! Does anyone know why?
It won't change position in the plan section unless you actually comment on your plan thread. If you just 'edit' an existing message then it will stay in the same spot.
As far as the 'lasted edited' date, that should change each time you edit the post. Are your changes taking effect?

I am so behind I don't think it's possible for me to finish. I am so sad and disappointed about this and was just wondering if there were options that some of you knew of that were great books but maybe not so long in length. Maybe it would give me hope. Most of my entries are lengthy. Hopefully I will do better next year. I vacationed for so long this year and didn't read barely at all in those months. :((( Any suggestions? Also, is there somewhere that will annouce the new one for next year in here?
Amy, you have several short books (like And Then There Were None) or children books in your plan, they read fast so you could tackle them first and see how many categories you read. Anyway, it's not a problem if you do half the challenge, sometimes life is busy ;)The new list will be available during the last week of October, here:

But I do have stuff to knit that isn't loud at all, and a few books I'm eager to read aren't available but as audiobooks on Overdrive, so I think it's time to dig out my yarn project once more. Like Jody says, they are slow, but if I multitask like this, it wouldn't feel as bad.
Has anyone tried speeding up to perhaps 1.5? I've tried so with some videos, but the talk became rather strange to listen to then.
