Sandra | 336 comments I'm looking for a book I read a few years ago. It was published in either the late 20th or 21st century. It may or may not be "The Summer Guest" by Justin Cronin.

All I can recall is that there is a scientist or geologist in the book who comes to New England to do research and he meets a young woman who lives there and they fall in love. I think she accompanies him on his trips around the countryside. There is a mention of kettle lakes, which are a kind of glacial pothole filled with water. He's never seen one before.

Can anyone help? Thank you!

Moderators, please move to Solved section (I am not sure how).

It is "Blackbird House" by Alice Hoffman. Please see excerpt (skip down to section where the narrator talks about Ewan Perkins)
