Happy Reading.

A bit iffy about this one. I've heard it is quite boring. Maybe I will buy the audiobook.

I've always said don't let my opinion stop you from reading something. But I'm always honest. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. Never know.

Plus it's not something you wouldn't see on the front page of reviews.

I am the same way. I don't like multiple view points. I NEED to know if it is written that way. I also want to know why people have given low star reviews. If it's something I can deal with, I will still read it.

Natalie Carey (janeefficiency) | 43 comments I listened to the audiobook a few months back, so my memory on this might not be perfect, but it's told from an outside view, in that the head Psychiatrist's wife is the main character, and it follows her story with falling in love (and in madness) with a patient at the asylum, but the whole story is told from the perspectove of the head Psychiatrist's close colleague and friend (which, thinking about it now adds a nice perspective on its study of insanity). I hope this helps!

I liked it overall, but do recommend the audiobook, as it's read by Sir Ian McClellan. ^.^ It is a slower story, and the main character, Stella, was insufferable at times, but the way it looks at madness, and the way the suspense is done was really great.

Tatiana Fajardo | 4 comments Hi everybody,

I dunno if you'll be interested, but Patrick McGrath is giving a symposium on 16th January at Stirling University, Scotland. I don't know if it's only for students of the university, but, anyway, it may be appealing to some of you...

Michelle (nanlewis) | 156 comments I just discovered there is a movie adaptation of "Asylum" - 2006, with Natasha Richardson and Sir Ian McKellan. Might be worth a watch.

Thanks for mentioning it, I didn't know that film existed!

Is it bad that I may bow out and watch the movie... eek... it hurt just to type that...

Oh I like Sir Ian McKellan, so a movie or audiobook would be great.
