I tend to agree. My home is decorated with books, most of which are unnecessary, but many are repositories of memories that would have long ago been lost if not for the printed page. I do have an e-reader, the Nook by Barnes & Noble. As a steampunk writer, I tend to rely on a large selection of reference material, and find the Nook far more convenient to carry around than a briefcase. And by the way, Nook offers a lending program for sharing books among other Nook users.

Nook's loan period is 14 consecutive days. Also, not all books can be loaned. According to the on-board manual, those that can have a symbol on the cover. I only have a very few recreational reading books on my Nook, but I just took a look, and don't see any extra symbols on any of them. Of course, never having participated in a loan transaction, maybe I just don't know what to look for.
