Great job everyone. I'll post bonus squares tonight. I got caught up watching the World Series last night and fell asleep shortly after it ended (14 innings!)
Bonus points:I used the alphabet going down the side of the board and numbers across the top.
Triple Word -> 10 E
Triple Letter -> 14 G
Double Word -> 4 I
Double Letter -> 2 H
To make it easier I'm showing only the additional points instead of total points for each bonus. This way the bonus points can be added to team points without any adjustment. Ex: E gets a triple letter. 1 point has already been counted by the team, so bonus will show the 2 additional points.

I know you weren't the only one, CFCeeDee. And I only manage to finish one, that gave the group only 2 points. But it's ok, nobody is disappointed.
Thanks Sandra .. That really did cheer me up ;D Maybe I would stick with monthly challenges for a while, just to measure my reading speed ..
@Cfdeedee as long as you had fun, you completed the challenge. Sucess! as someone who frequently doesn't complete a read for the toppler, trust me.

It's all bout having fun. :) Sometimes the book throws you off, sometimes it ends up being a busy week in real life...there are plenty of reasons to not finish a book in a week. Fortunately, we are all living life too and completely understand. As long as you had fun, it was a win.

Your week was disrupted by your road trip which made it difficult for you to participate fully. I'd encourage you to try again. The next one will be 24 hours long, so be sure to find a quick 200 page book. :)
My first toppler was a 24 hour one and I picked a book that was over 700 pages of very small font. Needless to say, I didn't finish it. I learned my lesson very quickly.
When I tell people about the Toppler and often get weird reactions...there is one point I like to think about....Isn't it cool to know that all over our world people are consciously reading a book at the same time as I am?
I always have to explain what a toppler is. When I say, "read-a-thon", they all go, "ahhhh..."

True. There's almost an imperceptible eye-rolling after the "ahhhh..." LOL!
"Read-a-thon" conveys the idea that a bunch of us are reading at the same time, but it doesn't capture what is exciting and fun about topplers. It is teams addressing a challenge in creative ways, and working together, and socializing along the way. We get to know our teammates, at least a little, and we are doing something together even though we are all in different places. A toppler is a game, a team sport.

One of my really good friends at work, who is a reader but not a massive reader, thought it was sooooo cool what we were doing. She is in France at the moment visiting her family and remembered to message me to find out how my team did! I was really touched she remembered and took such an interest.

Read-a-thons are more of a solitary experience. It's all about reading. And it's ok. After all we love reading, don't we?But topplers are much more. All the interaction before, during and after it, and all the gophering is what make them special.
Wooow Jance .. A 24 hours toppler ! That should be a Saturday, middle week days are mostly busy days !
But that is a great tip .. I did the same mistake too, so perhaps I'll give it a second shot considering your advice
The 24 hour topplers are always a Saturday. For you, it would start 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday and end at 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Yes, do try again. :)
Yes, try again. Practice has improved my toppler experience. For sure only read books you are really interested in is rule number one.

Everyone's right - Topplers are mainly to have fun! And I bet no one on your team is upset with you at all. I think there's at least one person in every Toppler that doesn't finish their book. Real life gets in the way and things happen. You'll be laughing about this soon.
Besides choosing shorter books if you want to read several, I recommend having lots to choose from ready and waiting. I had at least 15 books downloaded and checked out from the library for this Toppler. You need a good variety for whatever mood you might be in, and to be prepared in case of any duds.
The 24 hour Topplers are much more relaxed. There aren't teams, and tasks are easy.
Where CFDeeDee lives Saturdays and Sundays are not weekends, but Mondays and Tuedays. Am I correct? That would mean the toppler is in the middle of the week for her.
Actually where I live a weekend would be Friday and Saturday. So a Saturday toppler would be at the beginning of the week for me ! Time zones are weird ^^"
Where do you live, CFDeeDee...I could do the math but I'm not going to lie, time zones throw me under the bus!
