Discussion for Illuminae Part 3: Page 264 - 314 will take place here.

Happy reading!

Craig (jenks11) This book has deffo got me gripped now. Plus i love the layout of some of the pages, especially the ones talking about Ezra in his cyclone. Looks so cool and makes it interesting to read!

Also i love AIDANS monologues he's deffo a bit insane, although he thinks he's doing right, which makes it worse!

t. (lavidaenquotes) AIDAN sounds like a crazy girlfriend. And by crazy I mean a complete psychopath.

t. (lavidaenquotes) "Hands, mother◼◼◼."
Remember when I said I didn't like Byron so much? Scratch that. That guy's a hero.

Does anyone get a creepy feeling every time AIDAN starts a monologue? To think that's supposed to be a machine makes it all so much worse. That scene with Torrence was pretty heavy, and the way AIDAN kept on talking made it all so much worse. That thing is insane and I hope people wanting to make our machines more and more intelligent read this book and decide to use their time in a different way, because I don't want an intelligent machine calling the shots like AIDAN has been doing.

oh yes I do! omg, AIDAN really creeps me out. The fact that he thinks he's doing the right thing by killing a bunch of people is just sick.

AIDAN is just crazy and I'm scared for Byron. I hope he'll be okay.
Does anyone agree with me that this should be made into a movie?
It will be such an intense movie.
The virus really reminds me of zombies apocalypse, btw.

This Story would make for a great, sci fi action movie. Sadly, the formatting, which makes the book so unique, would be lost in a movie Adaptation. Although, all the time, while reading the book, I was thinking how it'd be a pretty exciting thing to watch. And can you imagine how creepy AIDAN's voice would sound?

Speaking of that... could any of the people with the Audio version show us how AIDAN's voice sounds? I'm pretty intrigued right now.

Audra (bookishendeavor) | 5 comments So the first two sections of the book I wasn't entirely sold on. There just wasn't enough character development. But... I LOVE AIDAN... ADAIN is my favorite character of the book just from the few pages. The computer had more personality in this section of the book than any other character. But it also leaves some questions too. How can AIDAN feel envy but not love? Also did anyone else notice that AIDAN seems to talk in poems?

Jenny | 10 comments I definitely agree that this would make an epic movie!! As far as the formatting goes, they could start the movie with someone going through the files and then have it fade to the events. Then periodically go back to the person reviewing everything, fading back and forth.
I also loved "Hands, mother******!" That line was perfect!
The thought of AI becoming so advanced is terrifying.
Okay, back to reading. : )

Biblio-Athena (athraja) | 21 comments OMG...AIDAN is messed up! Am I not merciful? I feel like I've heard that in a movie somewhere.

I'm a little confused as to the the logic for why it let loose the Phobos ppl into the Alexandria. like what was the logic? AIDAN said it was to protect the fleet. But how? Did I miss that?

The way Ezra's flying waa described waa so poetic. Loved it. AIDAN's way of speaking is also poetic but it's just so psychotic too. An intelligent murderer. So Poe of it.

The Mozart in the background as Torrence dies? What sadism man. *shivers*

If I got that right, AIDAN wanted to kill only the people that represented a threat for it, people that could shut it down, because if shut down, it wouldn't be able to protect the rest of the fleet, and AIDAN was sure it was the only one who knew how to and could do so. That's why it locked all the doors, so the afflicted couldn't contaminate the civilians on the fleet, and could only kill those representing a threat for AIDAN.
