What regional writing scenes and styles do you like?

Is there a unique style of writer or reader in a town or city, province or state, religion or ethnicity near you?

I am privileged to be in Northern England and to experience a reinvention of Southern Gothic (ironically) through our Social Realist tradition.

Are there any such similar transmutations taking place that you know of?

My hometown of Fairbanks, Alaska has much influence on my writing. I set the two female protagonists in the snowy kingdom of Harroway. As a reader, I tend to like books about people in cold climates as in Selah J. Tay-Song's Dream of a Vast Blue Cavern.
