Point of View

Although this story isn't from Jonas' point of view, I feel like I have been transformed to another world. The way Lois Lowry describes things is incredible and although the point of view isn't from somebody in the story, it is a very interesting story.

Nah the story didn't have to have a point of view for it to became the best. the story should have more action. This book did taught me that sometime we do what we don't like and keep moving forward even it will put your family and love one in danger.

I think the story would have been so much better if it was from Jonas' point of view because the narrator probably missed out on some key details that only Jonas knew. The story would've had more plot twists.

The point of view in this story would have been so much better if it was in Jonas's eyes. You would be able to see how he felt when he realized what his dad did to the twins better than you did with a narrator. Also, how he felt when he left the town and put together his scheme would be so much better if you know how he felt and what was going through his mine. Most importantly, you would've known the final result of the story if it was in his perspective.

I liked how Lois Lowry didn't use point view because it gave you a little more freedom to view things how you truly feel about something. If it was in Jonas's point of view, you would feel the same way Jonas feels on certain problems or people. When you follow any character you feel the same way towards things that the character does because its in their point of view, they say all the good things or if they thinks is bad, all the bad things. I think that she did this because this whole book is based on a community that is from one point of view, the Counsel of the Elders, so she did not want the reader to be like that. She probably wanted the readers to view things like they were in their own view in the story, so that they have the freedom to feel on their own, unlike the people in Jonas' community.

Alec Levi Sydney, I disagree. A reader does not always have sympathy for their main character.

I agree. If it was in first person in Jonas's perspective, I think the book would be a lot better because people would be able to get a different understanding on the book. This could lead to lots of inferring based on observations.
