Butterfly Mentions The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey Fortunately I have time again to read this book :) It is an adaption of the Russian Fairy and Folks tale :D So nice and exciting.

message 52: by Luella (new)

Luella I'm in the middle of reading several books at the moment.

I can't wait to finish Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers it is interesting but I want to unload it when I'm done and I'm getting closer.

I started Sharp Objects for a challenge and also to unload it.

I started Fathers and Sons and The Complete Plays of Sophocles for a challenge last year , I completed another book for one prompt and only the one necessary play out of the Complete Plays so I'm trying to finish them up since I already started them.

And I have two library books that were part of another group that I'd thought I'd enjoy. I've started As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride but only picked up Horrorstör yesterday and I kind of want to knock one or two off the list before picking that one up.

Busy busy reader am I.

So I am currently reading Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon for a challenge in another group I am part of and I am not sure why but I feel like I am struggling with the book. I was actually looking forward to reading the book after seeing the TV series. But now I find myself doing everything else but reading the book. I am not sure if it is the size of the book or what. Has anyone else read the book? Without giving away the plot, what are your thoughts on the book/series? Did anyone else struggle with it?

Syd (deertales) (deertales) I read Outlander several years ago and I remember it taking me a while to read but I ended up really liking it. I think once you get over the combination of fantasy and historical fiction it's pretty good.... I do want to reread it though, I feel like I would appreciate it more as a grown adult

message 59: by Dominique (new)

Dominique I just finished The Guest Room, it's about a bachelor's party gone wrong. It was a good book

I am still struggling with Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon so last night I decided to take a break and started reading HAZE by Deborah Bladon / After Haze I will go back to Outlander. Maybe by doing that it will not be os hard for me to get through Outlander.

Pretty much. I love details but the author just puts in way too much.

But what you read so far, was it good?

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

IT is good. I just think because it's slow going I need a break to make sure that I don't loose interest all together.

I know what you mean. L`m reading the Goldfinch, it`s a long book, it`s good but l`m reading something in else with a little bit more action to balance it out.

Syd (deertales) (deertales) long epics do take a chunk of time to read I think. my boyfriend got me a mystery novel for my birthday Still Life: A Chief Inspector Gamache Novel which I just finished and loved! Ellie (ellie_dp) I am usually reading only one book at a time, but these days I just can't gather my mind, I am so absent-minded. I started The Sweetest Dream by Doris Lessing, but it didn't grab me... so I left it for now and began reading The career of Nikodim Dyzmy by Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz... I am reading it in my lunch break and at home I read The Science of Discworld by Terry Pratchett.

I read it years ago, it's too bad that he had bad press because most of the story wasn't true but it was a great book.
