Basil Godevenos (basilgodevenos) Hi Everyone. October has flown by and by the looks of it, not many of us have gotten to Harry August - that's ok, there's still time (haha).

I still want to pick a book for November, if for no other reason than to make this group at the very least, a steady stream of vote-curated reading suggestions.

So, hit us with your best suggestions for beautifully written books about (or featuring) change, metamorphosis, or transformation.

Wilf Jones | 7 comments Thoughts of Dracula, and then The Dragon and the George, and Metamorphosis. But then I went all Welsh. I love the stories in the Mabinogion - no I'm not suggesting deadly medieval prose in however good the translation we might find - but I was introduced to the transformation of Bloduewedd by the wonderful novels of Evangeline Walton. I thoroughly recommend The Island of the Migthy, or The Children of Llyr. I cannot swear there is a heap of transformation going on but that is what came to mind. I guess in the same axionic spasm I might have thrown up the magnificent Owl Service by Alan Garner.

Kelsey | 17 comments One of my favorite fantasy authors is Robin McKinley, who is known, in part, for various takes on the theme of "Beauty and the Beast," so I might also nominate Chalice, which I personally think is one of her most under-appreciated novels.

Basil Godevenos (basilgodevenos) I've done a bit of digging and I'll throw what I've found into the ring. Some of these I'm less sure of WRT the theme...

Dawn

Childhood's End

Flowers for Algernon

Engine Summer

The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit

Fudoki
