Northanger Abbey

Why did you choose this particular book?
I found it on a goodreads list for books about books and I also wanted to read more classics.

Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List?

Jean Cole (joc724) | 324 comments What are you reading this week? The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton The Forgotten Garden
Why did you choose this particular book? My goal was to take as many books as possible from my TBR for this challenge, and this one fit the bill perfectly. Plus it was a great excuse to read another book by Kate Morton
Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List? ... and speaking of my TBR list -- 297. I can never manage to get much under 300. Oh well, my TBR list is one of my happy places -- so many choices and they're all ones I look forward to!

The Book of Speculation

Why did you choose this particular book?
I read a review of it somewhere and it sounded good and another book club I'm a part of was reading it so it matched up well.

Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List?
I don't have a good list. Too many to count!

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3885 comments - What are you reading this week?
When Books Went to War: The Stories that Helped Us Win World War II by Molly Guptill Manning

- Why did you choose this particular book?
In the Goodreads group The Seasonal Reading Challenge, one of the spring tasks was an option to read this book. I had never heard of this massive campaign to distribute books to soldiers during WWII, as a response to the Nazis banning and burning more than a million books. I was interested in the history behind the program and the soldiers' individual stories.

- Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List?
Over 600. Way too many and it keeps growing faster than I can read!

Fahrenheit 451

- Why did you choose this particular book?
I saw a number of people have chosen it for this topic (though it would equally fit several other topics) and it is a classic I have never read.

- Speaking about books ... How many books are in your current To-Read List?
About 130 ... But that is mainly because I uploaded all my Kindle books to Goodreads!

message 57: by Jennifer (new)

2419, but haven't added all the books on my amazon account yet, lol

Lyndi (mibookobsession) (mibookobsession) This week I'm reading The Book of Speculation. I won a free copy through another book group, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. My TBR seems infinite...

Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde

- Why did you choose this particular book?

I read the first book in this series a few years back and wasn't that impressed. But I was a bit concerned that I didn't really 'get it' since I hadn't read the books being referenced (and sent up).

So this time, I made it a point to read the books which Thursday Next visits prior to reading this one (namely: Great Expectations and The Trial).

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry

Why did you choose this particular book?
I felt like I kept seeing this book everywhere. Then as an early Mother's Day present, my husband bought me a kindle and there it was on the "kindle unlimited" service, waiting to be read. So, I ironically read this on an e-reader, lol. Of course, after reading it, I am left to question why I never read it before! This is definitely on my list of favorite books now!

Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List?
115.....is it bad that this is actually a good number? This time last year this number was much higher.

The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald

Why did you choose this particular book?
In was in the form for something light and fun, and this has been on my TBR list for awhile.

Speaking of books... how many books are on your current TBR list?
Every time I hear about a book that I might possibly want to read, I add it to my to-read list. Just so I'd be able to find it again... I know I probably won't get round to all of them, but use folders to tag them so that when I'm in the form I can find something great! So my list is way too long, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Easy choice for this week. I picked The Book Thief

Why did you choose this particular book?
It's a book that I've been hearing about for a long time, and have been meaning to read but never picked up. I've heard it's really good. I also had Fahrenheit 451 in mind, but I chose to use that for a different prompt.

Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List?
Currently, 661 books. Definitely need to get on that...

Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List?
A whopping 1,471. Yes, I have a problem.

message 71: by Denise S (new)

Denise S I am new to the group and playing catch up.

I read The Polysyllabic Spree by Nick Hornby earlier in the year which is actually a series of essays he writes for Believer - about books he has bought, books he is trying to read, books he has read, books he should be reading, etc. It is a wonderful, laugh out loud at times, marvelous book. I highly recommend it.

Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List? Not sure as I don't count them all. I have at least 500. I think I've listed 298 on Goodreads.

Why did you choose this particular book? The story sounded interesting and previous readers really enjoyed it. Plus, the plot is centered around a book that Simon, the protagonist and a librarian, is sent by an antiquarian bookseller.
Speaking about books... how many books are in your current To-Read List? Oy. A total of 327 books reside on my TBR shelf as of today...and counting.

message 80: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (TheSlothReader) For this week, I read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I've wanted to read this for a while because I absolutely love dystopians and this is a classic. I absolutely loved it and I highly recommend it. As for me TBR pile, let's not talk about it because it's close to 500.

message 81: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) What did you read?

Crime and Poetry (Magical Bookshop, #1) by Amanda Flower Crime and Poetry by Amanda Flower

Why did you choose this particular book?

Well, I was reading it for another book group (Cozy Mysteries) and it fit the category. It's about a magical bookshop and the poetry of Emily Dickinson features prominently.

There is a talking crow named Faulker (William Faulkner) and a cat named Emerson (Ralph Waldo Emerson), and the main character used to have a cat named Jane Eyre

How many books on my current TBR?

Believe it or not, 3,128!

Tiffany Anderson (miss5elements) | 331 comments What book are you reading this week? Tolstoy and the Purple Chair.

Why did you choose this book? To be honest, the purple chair hooked me. I didn't even need to see the cover. Sure, Tolstoy's mention intrigued me, but the purple chair sold me. And it's a great book. It helped me take another look at my own grief for loved ones lost.

How many books are in your to-read list? 1980 - a never ending list.
