Bill (llibrro) | 1113 comments Where does everybody look for New Releases In Horror? Or any genre for that matter. B&N doesn't have a horror section anymore. My local book stores have a horror section but no New Releases. If you look on Amazon you'll find Dracula and Stephen King. Libraries are okay. The big bookstores have become the equivalent of Top 40 Radio just to survive. And the small ones have retreated to a niche, which is unlikely to be horror. Thanks for your insights.

Donna | 49 comments I subscribe to various notifications direct from publishers such as Samhain, Journalstone, Chizine, Cemetary Dance, Subterranean Press, Undertow, Darkfuse, etc. either email newsletters or social media like Facebook. Same thing with my favorite writers - newsletters, Facebook, blogs, etc.
On Amazon, I will often use the advanced search (especially if I am looking for a specific publisher's books) and then sort by publication date so that pre-orders and new releases show up first.

Valancourt Books (valancourt_books) | 271 comments One of the best places to look is Locus Magazine's website. Under the 'Monitor' tab there is a section for New Books, Periodicals, New in Paperback, Classics Reprints, Weekly Bestsellers, etc.

http://www.locusmag.com/Monitor/

And like Donna suggested, as you find publishers or stores you're interested in getting updates from, sign up for their newsletters.

Same for me too mostly. The one site I subscribe to is anynewbooks.com

message 7: by Mercedes (new)

Mercedes (mudmule99) I search for something I've read and enjoyed on Amazon and then keep linking from there. I also check out GoodReads. Because I've purchased so many from Amazon I get a lot of recommendations that help.

Robert Kratky (bolorkay) | 342 comments Fantasticfiction.com is always a good source for what's "new" in the Horror/Fantasy genre.
Also a good way to backtrack on the early work of favorite authors.

Mel (melcuya) | 15 comments Mostly are ebooks, it's hard to find a real books i mean good horror books nowadays specially new one.

Ah, thank you. So that's how you do it. Never could get anything out of Amazon but this looks promising.

Mel (melcuya) | 15 comments you can try bookdepository.com , and what i love here! it's free shipping...

message 15: by Famine (new)

Famine (wolfcreed) Wish I knew! I get all my recs here through GR. Amazon and online stores are plagued with Stephen King. I need to branch out but only find trashy authors.

I couldn't agree more. I thought I knew what horror fiction was until I joined this group a few years back. I have been turned onto so many great new authors here that you'll never find on any Barnes & Noble or Amazon list. It's staggering how many I have downloaded now and my TBR pile is so huge that I won't live long enough to read them all.

Monica Go | 894 comments I pretty much discover horror books from Goodreads and this group.

Thanks, Donna - as a writer, that's good to know. We are always trying to determine the best places to announce our new books.

Hector Morales (hsmorales) | 17 comments i mainly find horror books here on goodreads and this group. i also find great horror books from friends and youtube. i am also writing two books they might be published on march 24th i am a little bit behind on my schedule, but I'll try my best to publish my two horror/ mystery books

message 22: by Marie (new)

Marie | 4028 comments I look on here first then after I find what I want then I go on amazon to see if they have the book. If they have it then I will download it to my kindle. I also check to see if it is on kindle unlimited.

message 23: by Kelly B (new)

Kelly B (kellybey) | 630 comments Netgalley is another place to see what's up and coming; even if I don't get selected for whatever book it is, I can still add it to my TBR list.

Latoya Pixelina wrote: "I find all my horror from Goodreads and mainly from this group!"

Haaa me too!

I like the idea about signing up to the publishers sites. You can get the new releases or deals that way.

message 25: by Latoya (new)

Latoya Your fav authors recommendation or the authors that inspired him or her. Then its off to the library.

Matt Wanicur (mattwanicur) | 23 comments I check out Book Lemur for up and coming indie authors, and amazon (as sad as that is) to see what's growing in popularity (and why).

message 28: by Crowinator (new)

Crowinator | 92 comments This is a great thread. I've found Goodreads and this group especially helpful in my personal reading, but as a librarian, I also see new releases frequently in the review journals I read, like Publisher's Weekly, Booklist, and Library Journal. I don't know about other libraries but we make those available to patrons to look at as well. Also as someone mentioned Netgalley and Edelweiss are good choices to search upcoming titles and request digital ARCs.
