Regarding Lemon Sugus, they are real, and as far as I know, they still exist. We used to eat them back in Uruguay when I was a kid. Lemon is not the only flavor. They are chewable and delicious.

We get similar sweets to those here in the UK called Fruitella. They come in lots of different flavours too. I used to really like them but haven't had any for a few years.

How are you finding the book so far Sandra? Are you enjoying it?

I'm loving it Lisa. Marina is the only novel I have read by Ruiz Zafón. His writing style is so beautiful! Something to relish. He knows how to "paint" Barcelona in front of your eyes, and masterfully creates a creepy climate of suspense. I'm in this situation when you want to read until the last page to know what happens, but at the same time I want to read as slow as possible to savor his words. Probably that's how it feels to fall in love with a book. :)

I just finished chapter 25 (view spoiler)[Although Daniel's visit to Nuria Monfort suggests that Jorge Aldaya is Coubert, for some reason I keep thinking Coubert is Julian Carax himself. I know he is supposed to have died, but who knows? My second choice is Miquel, who happens to be Nuria's husband, and according to her is in prision. Is she saving Carax books from her husband? I don't think Coubert is Jorge Aldaya. I don't think Ruiz Zafón would suggest this so early in the book. Is Nuria suggesting Aldaya is Coubert to cover her husband or her friend Julian Carax? Maybe I'm overthinking it. (hide spoiler)]

I'm glad you are enjoying it Sandra. I agree, his writing style is something else! It's so evocative! I literally couldn't put it down when we did this buddy read. The other two books in the series, The Angel's Game and The Prisoner of Heaven are very good too.

I finished it a couple of days ago and rated it 5 stars. I read all the spoilers too.
Although my hunch was correct and (view spoiler)[Coubert was Carax, it was never obvious to me, and the story has so many twists and surprises that it was never predictable. (hide spoiler)]
It was a great story. I'll definitely read the other books in the trilogy, but I'll wait a little since it was kind of intense and I feel like taking a break. It seems I'm not killing the series this year.
