From what I can remember, the story is about a young girl who's mother is abusive. I think in the beginning, she views her mother as a sort of queen and everything is kind of sweet and fairytale-esque (the mother has a tea party with her friends in the garden, and the father buys the girl many gifts). But as the years pass by, the mother becomes quite horrible. She says terrible things to her daughter.In one of the scenes I can remember, the girl has her period and her mother calls her a slut. At the end of the book, it is implied that the girl needs psychiatric help to recover from the abuse.
The book is fairly short (I finished it in one sitting) and has pink cover art. I think there was a simple illustration of an adolescent girl on the front.
