Crowdfunding is becoming increasingly popular. Supporting any? Running your own Kickstarter campaign? Share it here:

I'll try to port over previous/legacy posts but some will be missed; it is interesting to do a search for "kickstarter" or "crowdfunding" in the sear bar to see all the posts.

Sarah Avery (sarahavery) | 17 comments I just launched a Kickstarter campaign for a novella that Black Gate bought, but handed back when they stopped publishing fiction. It's the origin story for the heroine of "The War of the Wheat Berry Year," which appeared in Black Gate 15 - Spring 2011's last print issue.

Since then, I won the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Tales from Rugosa Coven, and some of my short stories have appeared in Fantasy Scroll Magazine and Jim Baen's Universe. I coedited a themed anthology, Trafficking in Magic, Magicking in Traffic, which featured stories by Darrell Schweitzer, Elizabeth Bear, and James Enge.

You can check out the campaign to publish "The Imlen Bastard," with cover art and -- stretch goals willing -- lavish interior illustration by the awesome British artist Kate Baylay. World Fantasy Award winning editor Betsy Mitchell, formerly of Del Rey, will edit the manuscript. C.S.E. Cooney, author of Bone Swans and frequent Black Gate contributor, will narrate the audiobook version if we unlock that goal.

I'm so proud of this project. Come see!
