First Impressions

As you begin to read this text, what are your first impressions?

My first impression of this book is that its protagonist Sanshiro is extremely scared of women. He is scared of most things, sure, such as food and urbanity, but WOMEN really get this guy's hairs on end. Because I often read somewhat for gender issues, I am going to have a eye for how women are represented. I am also curious to learn what effect university has on our hero; I like the juxtaposition between country and city here.
