Murder of Crows (The Others #2) by Anne Bishop; Start Date TBD

1. I've always thought there is more to Meg than they all know, and when this happened I was like so are we going to find out in this book the truth about her.
2. There has always been tension between them that everybody was aware of except these two, I think this was just part of that, Meg doesn't realize that she is attracted to him, he on the other hand just wanted to talk, I think it's good that they are talking about it, because it might lead to them discovering their true feelings. Everybody else already acts like Meg is Simon's, and he is possessive and protective. But it's kinda cute how clueless he is ;)
3. I thought the teenage girl was human!
Yeah the nicknames were weird, I also think Wild Dog lives and we'll see more of him later. That game was cruel.
But what Priscilla did just shows us how cruel it was, I mean what they did must have been totally awful.
4. I'm not sure about the Dr. He is not very clear to me, but I hope he finds some answers.
7. In book one, I just thought that they were just born like that to normal parents, this now got me thinking! Can they tell if a male is a Cassandra sangue, therefore use him to breed?
8. I think Jean is going to have a very important prophecy!
13. That hand in a jar really got to me. Vlad is one of my favorite characters, I hope nothing happens to him.
But I also think it's handy if Meg's visions were triggered by those involved, it means they're easier to decipher.
15. I think I said that already, but it's cute how clueless he is, can't wait for him to realize his true feelings.

16. The Crows were specifically targeted because they make excellent spies. It looks like those behind the attack have some disturbing knowledge about the Others and their habits. Thoughts.
17. Simon is suspicious of Lorenzo - good!
18. Simon gave the stories to Monty and allows Burke to park in the courtyard. It looks like trust is building - do you think it will last?
19. Hands and eyes in jars - ick! "We're going to be the wolves now". What did they mean by that?
20. The Intuits are another race of special humans like the cassandra sangue. They live among the Terra Indigene because they have been persecuted by other humans in the past. Thoughts.
21. Mr. Smith’s clients are all corrupt in some way but then i suppose one would have to be slime to use a cassandra sangue in the first place. The apocalypse that the girls are foretelling seems to support the idea of an oncoming war between the humans and the Others. Time to batten down the hatches!
22. Does Burke have an ulterior motive for wanting Roger relocated to Great Island (other than him being blamed by the Jerzy survivors)?
23. Once again the Terra Indigene prove that they are the ones in control in the world, not the humans. Can the decision to reclaim Jerzy be seen as collective punishment? Is it fair to blame all the residents of the village for the actions of a few?
24. By giving Jerzy to the Intuits, are the Others deliberately causing strife between them and the humans? Is it a test to see where the Intuits’ loyalties lie?
25. The procurement of cassandra sangue is nothing more than human trafficking. The Controller is trying something a little more subtle with Phineas Jones to get Meg back - is this a better plan than sending the mercenaries?
26. Jean’s vision of the catastrophe’s coming to the compound the the Walking Names’ dying - perhaps a rescue attempt? What about her seeing herself holding a jar of honey?
27. Elayne’s new boyfriend is Nicholas Scratch. She wants humans to “get what they deserve”… be careful what you wish for! I have no idea what Monty ever saw in the social climbing Elayne…Why is Scratch going to such lengths to hide his true identity?
28. Humans evicted for polluting the environment - maybe we should adopt that policy?
29. The Simple Life Folk are reminiscent of the Amish but it seems that they choose to live their lives this way rather than being born into it - perhaps something more like a commune?
30. Why is Steve so insistent about the Inuits’ abilities not being prophecy? Are they afraid they might also be subjected to "Benevolent Ownership”? The blood prophets descend from the Intuits and the Intuits gave them up to the “special homes” to keep them safe and to protect themselves from other humans. Now they have all but disappeared from the Inuit bloodline…Thoughts.
31. The Intuit girl who committed suicide is the same one Phineas Jones mentions - so this is where he is coming to procure new “stock”.
32. Aha! So Jean was born outside the compound. Was she born to an Intuit family?
33. Any thoughts on the source of the animosity between Steve and Simon?
34. According to Steve, the blood of a cassandra sangue calms anger - isn’t this the opposite of what it did to Simon?
35. If there was a war, would the Intuits, the Simple Life Folk and the Terra Indigene band together to fight the humans?

#1 – I agree. There is more to Meg than meets the eye.
#2 – Well said. It is cute.
#3 – Yes, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Wild Dog.
#4 – Yes, Dr. Lorenzo is an enigma to me; I think he could go either way.
#7 – Good question! I don’t know.
#13 – Yes, I really like and enjoy Vlad, too.

16. The Crows were specifically targeted because they make excellent spies. It looks like those behind the attack have some disturbing knowledge about the Others and their habits. Thoughts.
Well, I hadn’t figured that out; of course, it makes perfect sense when I think about it. They’ve got to take them out first.
17. Simon is suspicious of Lorenzo - good!
LOL! Yes, a good thing.
18. Simon gave the stories to Monty and allows Burke to park in the courtyard. It looks like trust is building - do you think it will last?
I hope so, but I worry what would happen if anything happened to Monty’s little girl, Lizzy.
19. Hands and eyes in jars - ick! "We're going to be the wolves now". What did they mean by that?
The dominate ones? Predators instead of prey?
20. The Intuits are another race of special humans like the cassandra sangue. They live among the Terra Indigene because they have been persecuted by other humans in the past. Thoughts.
Yes, it makes me wonder how the Cassandra sangue came about. Was there a little fraternization between Others & humans?
21. Mr. Smith’s clients are all corrupt in some way but then I suppose one would have to be slime to use a cassandra sangue in the first place. The apocalypse that the girls are foretelling seems to support the idea of an oncoming war between the humans and the Others. Time to batten down the hatches!
Definitely! In a way, I’m tickled that these humans can’t get their prophecies. Serves them right. But, I doubt it will wake them up any.
22. Does Burke have an ulterior motive for wanting Roger relocated to Great Island (other than him being blamed by the Jerzy survivors)?
Burke likes having an information source… so, could be. But, I’m hoping his heart is in the right place.
23. Once again the Terra Indigene prove that they are the ones in control in the world, not the humans. Can the decision to reclaim Jerzy be seen as collective punishment? Is it fair to blame all the residents of the village for the actions of a few?
I don’t think it is fair for all the residents to be punished, but I don’t think it is feasible for the terra indigene to ferret out the culprits. Probably next to impossible. Alas, I think this move by the terra indigene will just add fuel to the Humans First & Last movement.
24. By giving Jerzy to the Intuits, are the Others deliberately causing strife between them and the humans? Is it a test to see where the Intuits’ loyalties lie?
Oh! I hadn’t thought of that. Could be.
25. The procurement of cassandra sangue is nothing more than human trafficking. The Controller is trying something a little more subtle with Phineas Jones to get Meg back - is this a better plan than sending the mercenaries?
Could be.
26. Jean’s vision of the catastrophe’s coming to the compound the Walking Names’ dying - perhaps a rescue attempt? What about her seeing herself holding a jar of honey?
I don’t know. I hope the residents of the compound are set free. Maybe Henry shows up with a jar of honey? LOL!
27. Elayne’s new boyfriend is Nicholas Scratch. She wants humans to “get what they deserve”… be careful what you wish for! I have no idea what Monty ever saw in the social climbing Elayne…Why is Scratch going to such lengths to hide his true identity?
Elayne makes me so mad. Such a bitch, though not – yet – as bad as Asia. I figure Scratch is probably someone else – someone with a very bad reputation that humans would hesitate to follow.
28. Humans evicted for polluting the environment - maybe we should adopt that policy?
Really!
29. The Simple Life Folk are reminiscent of the Amish but it seems that they choose to live their lives this way rather than being born into it - perhaps something more like a commune?
Yes.
Could be. It would be a big motivating factor for me to distance my people from that threat. I’m thinking there is much more here we have yet to learn about.
31. The Intuit girl who committed suicide is the same one Phineas Jones mentions - so this is where he is coming to procure new “stock”.
Yup. Sad.
32. Aha! So Jean was born outside the compound. Was she born to an Intuit family?
Ah! Could be. If so, I hope she finds her people.
33. Any thoughts on the source of the animosity between Steve and Simon?
No. I’m trying to figure that out. Is Steve really handsome and showing too much interest in Meg?
34. According to Steve, the blood of a cassandra sangue calms anger - isn’t this the opposite of what it did to Simon?
Yes, I’m wondering if it has to do with WHEN the blood is tasted. When the cassandra sangue or euphoric or when they have been cut crossways/wrong to induce madness?
35. If there was a war, would the Intuits, the Simple Life Folk and the Terra Indigene band together to fight the humans?
Now you talking! Sounds like a plan. LOL!

I just finished chapter 6, I'm not sure when I get to next set of Qs chapters!

1. We learned in the first book that Crow deaths were a hallmark to a Courtyard where the mysterious “sickness” or drug use occurs (thus, the title of this book). Now Meg has had a dream-vision. I’m thinking, “Thank goodness, another way she won’t have to cut herself… eventually.” Or is this just wishful thinking on my part. Your thoughts.
she probably doesn't have to cut herself to see something but even if she has to cut herself, that cut doesn't need to be deep or bleed
3. The names of the humans in Chapter 2 threw me off a little. They despise the Others, yet they take nicknames related? Weird. Comments on their game of Crow Bait & Roadkill? And about what they did to Priscilla – who I’m assuming is human, right? – and how she retaliated? Unfortunately, I believe Wild Dog lives. I wonder what type of Other the teen-age girl was who was shot.
Priscilla was human. The girl that dies wasn't Other, she was just a girl who had moved recently to that street with her family. And she wasn't shot, the dog ripped her neck!
4. How do you feel about Dr. Dominic Lorenzo? What of his feelings towards independent living for the Cassandra sangue? Whatever is decided, I’m sure he won’t be wearing a white coat in the Courtyard clinic.
I don't like or trust him
5. What did you think of Monty and Karl as a template when eating in front of those eight Others that visited A Little Bite? If you travel outside your country, state, territory, or region, are you usually conscious of being a reflection of where you come from?
I liked that scene. And yes I am.
6. Are Meg’s blackouts just from information overload, or is it something else?
7. BOOK QUOTE: “The boys carried the seeds of that ability but not the ability itself.” Man-oh-man! The cassandra sangue male offspring are breeding stock! I wondered, briefly, in the first book if Meg had been born in the Compound; now I’m almost sure of it…making a mockery of the whole “benevolent ownership.” But we knew that was BS. Comments.
8. Ick. That Controller! Such an awful human. I’m hoping he gets what is coming to him in this book and not have me wait until the next. Nevertheless, I didn’t expect to see Jean make an appearance in this book. I thought the “other type of freedom” she talked about in the first book was death. Good Gravy Beans! What do you make of the fact that she only kept screaming when the Controller repeatedly asked her about the Wolf at Lakeside, Meg’s Wolf?
I think the girl that kept screaming wasn't Jean. The controller said the girls that didn't have anymore skin left for prophecies were used for something else that is their blood!. I think Jean is not used for prophecies anymore but for her blood.
Either what the girl saw was too scary or she didn't say what she saw and screamed instead so she wouldn't tell!

What do you guys think of the technology, I mean they have advanced technology with email and such, but it seems they still don't have planes and flying!
Is it because it would make it easy to get over Terra Indigene land that humans are not authorized to cross! They might not have wanted to attempt it but it seems the humans are getting bolder and careless.

What do you guys think of the technology, I mean they have advanced technology with email and such, but it seems they still don't have planes and flying!
Is it because it wo..."
Yes, the Terra Indegine control human development and anything that could be considered a threat to them is not allows. If humans could fly that would negate the Others advantage in the skies and humans would also be able to drop bombs on the Others.
The humans are getting bolder and it does not bode well for them.

I can do the next set of Qs on my Monday if it's not too late.

Good point, Lauren. Stupid humans.

That's fine, ShoSho, unless you want me to do them and you do Chapters 19-23. Up to you.

That's fine, ShoSho, unless you want me to do them and you do Chapters 19-23. Up to you."
Hmm it might be better if I do 19-23.

16. The Crows were specifically targeted because they make excellent spies. It looks like those behind the attack have some disturbing knowledge about the Others and their habits. Thoughts.
Yes it seems they know too much
18. Simon gave the stories to Monty and allows Burke to park in the courtyard. It looks like trust is building - do you think it will last?
As long as they don't betray this trust or do something foolish it will last
19. Hands and eyes in jars - ick! "We're going to be the wolves now". What did they mean by that?
Pickled hands and eyes? were they going to eat it?
22. Does Burke have an ulterior motive for wanting Roger relocated to Great Island (other than him being blamed by the Jerzy survivors)?
I don't think so , Burke seems like a wise man .he wouldn't try trick the Others
23. Once again the Terra Indigene prove that they are the ones in control in the world, not the humans. Can the decision to reclaim Jerzy be seen as collective punishment? Is it fair to blame all the residents of the village for the actions of a few?
It shows how the Others see human .
24. By giving Jerzy to the Intuits, are the Others deliberately causing strife between them and the humans? Is it a test to see where the Intuits’ loyalties lie?
I'm worried about any Intuits who moves to Jerzy .Humans won't like it.
I think the Others already trust the Intuits
25. The procurement of cassandra sangue is nothing more than human trafficking. The Controller is trying something a little more subtle with Phineas Jones to get Meg back - is this a better plan than sending the mercenaries?
Better and scarier
26. Jean’s vision of the catastrophe’s coming to the compound the the Walking Names’ dying - perhaps a rescue attempt? What about her seeing herself holding a jar of honey?
I hope it's a rescue attempt. A jar of honey is something positive so I hope she ends up somewhere good.
A few pages after this we read about the jars of honey being carries from Great island by Henry.Maybe Jean will end up on the island?!
28. Humans evicted for polluting the environment - maybe we should adopt that policy?
A very good idea
29. The Simple Life Folk are reminiscent of the Amish but it seems that they choose to live their lives this way rather than being born into it - perhaps something more like a commune?
Yes commune is more like it
He should be afraid because of Benevolent Ownership law.
31. The Intuit girl who committed suicide is the same one Phineas Jones mentions - so this is where he is coming to procure new “stock”.
I don't want him there. But maybe that's why Steve said he had a feeling a storm was coming and they would need a police officer
32. Aha! So Jean was born outside the compound. Was she born to an Intuit family?
It is possible
33. Any thoughts on the source of the animosity between Steve and Simon?
Nothing serious ,Simon is just jealous
34. According to Steve, the blood of a cassandra sangue calms anger - isn’t this the opposite of what it did to Simon?
I have a feeling it can work both ways depending on something
35. If there was a war, would the Intuits, the Simple Life Folk and the Terra Indigene band together to fight the humans?
The Others won't need any help and I think Intuits and the Simple Life Folk will stay out as much as they can

#19 – Oh, yuk! I didn’t think of that.
#24 – You have a good point.
#26 – Oh! I hope so.
#34 – Me, too.

36. Poor Merri Lee. Did you expect it to escalate at much as it did? Why didn’t the police protect her better? Did Tess overreact?
37. So, Simon was disgruntled because he saw The Dimwit’s Guide to Dating, right? Or was Meg just making assumptions to fit her images? What did you think of Steve Ferryman telling Simon he wasn’t after his girl?
38. Peripheral Characters: Any theories as to what will happen with Officer Roger Czerneda? Is he toast? Will Theral, Officer MacDonald’s cousin, work out for Dr. Lorenzo? Will Ruthie be an asset to the Lakeside Courtyard?
39. Human shaped wolf cookies? LOL!
40. What did you think of Simon overdosing on Meg’s blood? What will be the upshot of this, now that the Others – and the police – know he did this? What will Meg do? I was worried about his being around her, and his addiction, but it looks like (by the end of Chapter 16) regular licking isn’t a problem.
41. Whoa. A bomb went off at Tululah Falls Courtyard and the Sanguinati who had been hunting the humans who murdered the Crows is missing. With “talk of a predator on the river than even the Sanguinati were avoiding…” …it seems the waters around there are not safe, for humans or Others. Is another Other like Tess residing there? Something else? Or is the threat just human? Comments.
42. Captain Burke laid down the law to the merchants in Lakeside. Think the fear of a “long ride into the wild country and left without food, water, or shoes” will work, or is war inevitable?
43. Oh, Meg and her damp panties. How embarrassing. In a room full of Others, she’s broadcasting her desire for Simon. What about her coming into “season” and Vlad and Simon’s discomfort? Thoughts?
44. Luckily, it looks like Captain Burke is going to help Monty with any investigation into Nicolas Scratch. Do the humans in Cel-Romano have a dangerous agenda to overthrow the world? Any further thoughts?
45. How DID cs783 get into that basement? Did the Controller sell her? And a meat grinder?? – while they were alive!! Ack! Gruesome.
46. What triggered Meg’s visions during the meeting at the end of Chapter 17? Just her touching the list? Did her wound re-open? (I don’t think so.) Was it her volatile exchange with Simon?
47. What did you think of Dr. Lorenzo’s “chemical stew” theory? **Lisa Kay blows raspberry to his comment about Meg being doomed**
48. Simon told Meg of his encounter with the old cassandra sangue he encounter in his youth. Think she is still alive? Or that maybe someone will know her secret to longevity?
49. So, how about the possibility of a “citizen swap” in the Talulah Falls area? What did you think of the Others allowing the farmers back onto the land around Jerzy? Do you think the terra indigene will negotiate with the survivors of Tululah Falls?

36. Poor Merri Lee. Did you expect it to escalate at much as it did? Why didn’t the police protect her better? Did Tess overreact?
Yes I could see it coming .Probably the police didn't see it coming!
And from human POV she might have overreacted but for one of the Others she didn't !
37. So, Simon was disgruntled because he saw The Dimwit’s Guide to Dating, right? Or was Meg just making assumptions to fit her images? What did you think of Steve Ferryman telling Simon he wasn’t after his girl?
I don't think he saw it .She was just thinking what would happen when he saw it . Everyone can see what's going between Simon and Meg except the 2 of them
38. Peripheral Characters: Any theories as to what will happen with Officer Roger Czerneda? Is he toast? Will Theral, Officer MacDonald’s cousin, work out for Dr. Lorenzo? Will Rosie be an asset to the Lakeside Courtyard?
No he'll survive ! who was Rosie?
39. Human shaped wolf cookies? LOL!
EEp does it mean they are going to be eaten by wolves?
About that prophecy ,did you figure out what fin is??it refers to Phineas Jones
40. What did you think of Simon overdosing on Meg’s blood? What will be the upshot of this, now that the Others – and the police – know he did this? What will Meg do? I was worried about his being around her, and his addiction, but it looks like (by the end of Chapter 16) regular licking isn’t a problem.
Yes it doesn't seem to be a problem .But I was worried about his leadership . they are all predators now that they have seen him weak , they might be a threat
41. Comments.
I think there is something dangerous in those waters and not human!
42. Captain Burke laid down the law to the merchants in Lakeside. Think the fear of a “long ride into the wild country and left without food, water, or shoes” will work, or is war inevitable?
For now it will work ,I'm not sure about long term
43. Oh, Meg and her damp panties. How embarrassing. In a room full of Others, she’s broadcasting her desire for Simon. What about her coming into “season” and Vlad and Simon’s discomfort? Thoughts?
I thought the whole thing was funny ,I was loling the whole time reading those parts
44. Luckily, it looks like Captain Burke is going to help Monty with any investigation into Nicolas Scratch. Do the humans in Cel-Romano have a dangerous agenda to overthrow the world? Any further thoughts?
I don't think this HFL will be resolved in this book
45. How DID cs783 get into that basement? Did the Controller sell her? And a meat grinder?? – while they were alive!! Ack! Gruesome.
I think she probably was sold ! the meat grinder was very gruesome
46. What triggered Meg’s visions during the meeting at the end of Chapter 17? Just her touching the list? Did her wound re-open? (I don’t think so.) Was it her volatile exchange with Simon?
I don't know, it was very curios .I don't think her wound reopened either
47. What did you think of Dr. Lorenzo’s “chemical stew” theory? **Lisa Kay blows raspberry to his comment about Meg being doomed**
He could be right
48. Simon told Meg of his encounter with the old cassandra sangue he encounter in his youth. Think she is still alive? Or that maybe someone will know her secret to longevity?
Probably she is not alive any more but it's a good thing he told Meg about her. It'd keep up her hopes for future .I hope someone knows
49. So, how about the possibility of a “citizen swap” in the Talulah Falls area? What did you think of the Others allowing the farmers back onto the land around Jerzy? Do you think the terra indigene will negotiate with the survivors of Tululah Falls?
I think they will negotiate and about the citizen swap , it doesn't sound practical to me

You mean Ruthie?

16. Yes, it seems that whoever started this knows that they need to get rid of the crows before they start anything,
But it also looks like now it has become a sport to the likes of Wild Dog, they don't really understand it, but they are definitely causing harm.
17. Yes, it's good that Simon doesn't trust the Dr, I'm not sure about him, I don't like that they're letting him in the Courtyard.
19. I agree with Lisa Kay on this one, it might mean that they'll dominate now, but I wonder about the eyes, who's eyes are they?!
21. All the girls seem to have bad prophecies, but I wonder if it means bad for those who seek them, or I hope bad for all those who deserve it, because Jean had a prophecy about her holding a jar of honey, which I hope means better times for her and the other Cassendra sangue.
22. I wonder about Burke, I think there is more to him, but I think good not bad. I hope because the Others are starting to trust him more.
23. The Terra Indigene think differently, they might think the whole pack should be punished.
But we do see in another chapter that they allowed the farmer to stay, that's fair I guess but what does it say about their way of thinking.
25. I worry about what Phineas Jones will do.
26. I saw this as a good sign, I hope she reunites with her family.
27. I wonder if Scratch knows about Monty and that he works with the Courtyard, he might want to use Lizzy to get him to do something, but I hope not for Lizzy's sake.
30. The Inuits have secrets, and they're trying to protect them.
33. Simon is jealous because he thinks Meg might connect with him more and like him. Which I think a good thing for the developing of their relationship, I think Meg is noticing.
34. Both drugs comes from the Cassandra sangue's blood, does when they take the blood change the affect, Simon's reactions both times he licks Meg's blood are totally different.
35. Not sure about the Simple Life Folk, but the Inuits seems to have a secret agenda, I think they might help the Others though.

Will answer DQs after I get home from work this evening.

36. I saw it coming, I think the police had so much to deal with and didn't think this was serious.
I'm not sure Tess overreacted, but it does show that she cares for a human!
37. I don't think he saw the book, and I think Ferryman could see that Simon was jealous and he was trying to keep himself out of trouble with the wolf.
38. Ok now I get it, not Rosie but Ruthie, and I think she is going to help in a big way.
39. I'm not sure about those cookies, I didn't think it was funny.
And it does make sense that fin might refer to Phineas, since hide the children is involved.
40. This was a way to show us how the blood works in different ways. It does undermine Simon's authority a little, I was a bit disappointed that he wasn't in control and totally lost it, I hope he does better if something like this happens again.
43. That was funny, but on the other hand she didn't bleed for three months. Does that mean anything!
45. I think she might have been sold to be part of an experiment, which is really gruesome.
46. I don't think her wound reopened, I wonder why the Dr said that without checking, does he know something?!
I was also wondering, since she obviously can have prophecies without cutting, does the need to cut have something to do with the euphoria, what if Meg started having sex, will she still need to cut regularly?!
47. I don't like this Lorenzo, he has a secret agenda.
48. It would be interesting to see what they find out about the old woman. It might help in understating the Cassandra sengue.

Heehee"
Yes, terribly sorry... I meant Ruthie. ☺

#36 – Considering her power, she didn’t overreact… true. However, I did feel sorry for the humans that didn’t deserve to die. For the first time.
#37 – I’m about 85% sure he saw it. So, I don’t know.
@39 – No, I didn’t get the fin part. Clever, you.
@40 – Hmmm… could be. Especially if he keeps indulging…
#41 – Me, too!
#43 – ☺
#44 – Nope. Me, either. Probably not who Scratch really is, either.
#46 – Good. I’m not alone.

#17 – Ah! Doesn’t look like any of us trust the doctor.
#19 – I don’t remember whose eyes they could be; I’ll have to go back and check/re-read.
#21 – I’m hoping the same thing.
#22 – Oh! Now you have me wondering about Burke, too.
#27 – I was wondering the same thing!!

36. Poor Merri Lee. Did you expect it to escalate at much as it did? Why didn’t the police protect her better? Did Tess overreact?
I was actually expecting Tess to do something before those guys attacked Merri Lee, so actually, she showed amazing restraint.
37. So, Simon was disgruntled because he saw The Dimwit’s Guide to Dating, right? Or was Meg just making assumptions to fit her images? What did you think of Steve Ferryman telling Simon he wasn’t after his girl?
I'm not sure whether or not Simon saw the guide so perhaps Meg was just making assumptions.
I think that Steve is far more insightful than Simon...
38. Peripheral Characters: Any theories as to what will happen with Officer Roger Czerneda? Is he toast? Will Theral, Officer MacDonald’s cousin, work out for Dr. Lorenzo? Will Ruthie be an asset to the Lakeside Courtyard?
These are all characters who have intriguing potential as allies for the Others - hope none of them end up as toast, lol!
It was an interesting explanation and solved the inconsistency that I noticed before.
My only concern is that the Others in courtyards around Thaisia may view the Cassandra Sangue as a threat now and may try to eliminate them because of the danger their blood poses to them
41. Comments.
Wow! The humans in this book are stupid. Did they actually think that the Others would just let that attack slide...
Yes, it does sound like something very dangerous is in the water...
However, I think that the "Shark" in Meg's prophecy is Phineas Jones - he is the predator who is coming and is a threat to both the Cassandra Sangue among the Intuit and to Meg and the Others by association.
42. Captain Burke laid down the law to the merchants in Lakeside. Think the fear of a “long ride into the wild country and left without food, water, or shoes” will work, or is war inevitable?
Captain Burke's speech will probably work in the short term but might not stick for long because the humans are allowing their prejudices to overrule their common sense and survival instinct. I'm beginning to think that war is inevitable
43. Oh, Meg and her damp panties. How embarrassing. In a room full of Others, she’s broadcasting her desire for Simon. What about her coming into “season” and Vlad and Simon’s discomfort? Thoughts?
Lol! Other males are just like human males in not knowing how to handle women
44. Luckily, it looks like Captain Burke is going to help Monty with any investigation into Nicolas Scratch. Do the humans in Cel-Romano have a dangerous agenda to overthrow the world? Any further thoughts?
The planes and technological devices like the ones in the previous book seem to suggest that the humans in Cel-Romano are working toward overthrowing the Others - something tells me that it is not going to end well for them
45. How DID cs783 get into that basement? Did the Controller sell her? And a meat grinder?? – while they were alive!! Ack! Gruesome.
Perhaps cs783 was one of the girls sold so that her blood could be harvested for the drugs
46. What triggered Meg’s visions during the meeting at the end of Chapter 17? Just her touching the list? Did her wound re-open? (I don’t think so.) Was it her volatile exchange with Simon?
I understood that her wound did open...maybe I missed something
47. What did you think of Dr. Lorenzo’s “chemical stew” theory? **Lisa Kay blows raspberry to his comment about Meg being doomed**
I share in that raspberry, LK!
Lorenzo is starting to get on my nerves with his attitude toward Meg as some sort of test subject for his theories
48. Simon told Meg of his encounter with the old cassandra sangue he encounter in his youth. Think she is still alive? Or that maybe someone will know her secret to longevity?
I think that we will learn more about the old woman because whatever kept her alive is the solution to Meg's problems
49. So, how about the possibility of a “citizen swap” in the Talulah Falls area? What did you think of the Others allowing the farmers back onto the land around Jerzy? Do you think the terra indigene will negotiate with the survivors of Tululah Falls?
Yes, I think that the Others will negotiate - they are an honorable even if their punishments are harsh (albeit well deserved). They will give the humans another opportunity. They should make sure that they don't squander it

#36 – I was expecting Tess to do something, too.
#40 – True… that could happen, especially the Others that don’t know Meg.
#41 – Yes, TSTL. See, I didn’t get the “fin” correlation. **smacks forehead**
#43 – **chuckles**
#44 – That’s what I’m thinking. They’re going for world dominance.
#45 – Yes, now that I think on it, that was probably the case.
#47 – **more chuckles and blowing of raspberries**
#48 – That’s what I’m hoping. Might not be in this book, though.
#49 – Alas, I think HFL will sabotage again, although, hopefully it won’t be at Talulah Falls.

#27. Excellent point! He may be sucking up to Elayne for a reason other than tacking advantage of her "hospitality"!
#36. Yes. Tess sees Merri Lee as part of her pack :0)

50. I wonder if there are any blood prophets in Great Island right now?! What do you think ?Were they so afraid for the children because they have the potential or there are girls who already show signs of being one?
51. Ughh! The humans seems so dense in Thaisia .They haven't learned anything yet and they have been shown so many examples. People in Lakeside are still refusing to sell their products to the Courtyard and they stand against the human working for the Others. Do you think they will learn the hard the way?
52.I like how Meg is understanding her own nature better each day. This new development about having a routine to prevent the pins and needles shows there are ways for her to live a normal life . Comments.
53.I thought the
54.What did you think of Skippy and his condition ?
55.We are a clever bunch for figuring out that prophecy about Fin-ass the smiling shark. Didn't he figure out the reason for Steve's dismissal too easily?
56. That controller is a horrible man .The girls were shown a real video of beating a girl for training and it seems that he used the girls he bought from Mr.Smith for meat grinder ! What did you think of Jean's prophecy about his future ?
57. I wish the rape wasn't in the book, it's very gruesome as it is and it takes some of the enjoyment out for me. What do you think?
58.Did any of the guest catch your attention? What did you think of them? The scene with the mouse and Skippy , was it a good introduction for Meg to them?
58 .I was thinking they would catch Phineas and they would get to the Controller by the information they get from him , did you expect him to kill himself like that? I liked how the prophecy came true and what Meg and Merri Lee did .
59. Meg saved Skippy and he's hurt. It seems his feeling has been hurt more that his leg and it seems the Other have found a very good way to use the chamomile cookies!
60. It was a good thing the guests saw how the police works .They might use this knowledge and ask the police to investigate instead of eating all the people involved ! What did you think about the human pack conclusion about notebooks?
61. Loved the rope game! Do you think Meg will find the Controller by making a cut?
62 . How did she get here? Doesn't she remember anything?

50. I wonder if there are any blood prophets in Great Island right now?! What do you think ?Were they so afraid for the children because they have the potential or there are girls who already show signs of being one?
The impression I got is that there are blood prophets or potential blood prophets amongst the Intuit
51. Ughh! The humans seems so dense in Thaisia .They haven't learned anything yet and they have been shown so many examples. People in Lakeside are still refusing to sell their products to the Courtyard and they stand against the human working for the Others. Do you think they will learn the hard the way?
Sometimes people only learn the hard way and these humans are clearly some of them
52.I like how Meg is understanding her own nature better each day. This new development about having a routine to prevent the pins and needles shows there are ways for her to live a normal life . Comments.
Yes, she does seem to be learning more about her abilities. While I understand the urges that she feels to cut and the fact that she wants to help the Others, it still bugs me that she is cutting
53.I thought the human flavored human-shaped chamomile flavored cookies were absolutely hilarious and how all the Wolves were saying human flavored the moment they saw the cookies .
Lol! Yes that was funny
54.What did you think of Skippy and his condition?
Poor Skippy. He is so sweet and loving though. More like a regular pet dog than an Other
55.We are a clever bunch for figuring out that prophecy about Fin-ass the smiling shark. Didn't he figure out the reason for Steve's dismissal too easily?
It made sense to me that he realized what was going on quickly after all he knew that Meg was in the area and might be helping the Others
56. That controller is a horrible man .The girls were shown a real video of beating a girl for training and it seems that he used the girls he bought from Mr.Smith for meat grinder ! What did you think of Jean's prophecy about his future ?
I really hope he dies in a very painful way!
57. I wish the rape wasn't in the book, it's very gruesome as it is and it takes some of the enjoyment out for me. What do you think?
Do you mean what happened to Jean or to Merri Lee?
While rape is a trope that I dislike intensely, there are no detailed descriptions of Jean's rape and the extent of the attack on Merri Lee is unclear which makes it easier for me to stomach.
58.Did any of the guest catch your attention? What did you think of them? The scene with the mouse and Skippy , was it a good introduction for Meg to them?
Yes, it was a good introduction. It showed them that they had nothing to fear from Meg despite her being one of Namid's terrible creations.
The guests that stood out for me were Alan (the author) and Charlie (the celebrity crow). I found it interesting that they had human-like occupations.
58 .I was thinking they would catch Phineas and they would get to the Controller by the information they get from him , did you expect him to kill himself like that? I liked how the prophecy came true and what Meg and Merri Lee did .
I wasn't expecting him to commit suicide so that was a shocker but I LOVED Meg and Merri Lee's defending Skippy and themselves - the "exploding fluffballs", lol!
59. Meg saved Skippy and he's hurt. It seems his feeling has been hurt more that his leg and it seems the Other have found a very good way to use the chamomile cookies!
Skippy is so cute! Yes, his pride it more hurt than his leg
60. It was a good thing the guests saw how the police works .They might use this knowledge and ask the police to investigate instead of eating all the people involved ! What did you think about the human pack conclusion about notebooks?
Yes, the relationship between Simon & company and the Lakeside police might be a template for other places BUT the humans will have to cooperate.
The notebooks are just another example of humans discriminating against Others. The humans get what they deserve.
61. Loved the rope game! Do you think Meg will find the Controller by making a cut?
Yes, she probably will
62 . How did she get here? Doesn't she remember anything?
I think she was so focused on the process of escaping that she didn't notice any details of the journey

50. I wonder if there are any blood prophets in Great Island right now?! What do you think ?Were they so afraid for the children because they have the potential or there are girls who already show signs of being one?
I think there might some girls who show signs, but I think one of the Inuits was thinking what if they are targeted now!
51. Ughh! The humans seems so dense in Thaisia .They haven't learned anything yet and they have been shown so many examples. People in Lakeside are still refusing to sell their products to the Courtyard and they stand against the human working for the Others. Do you think they will learn the hard the way?
I hope it doesn't go too far, the Others in Lakeside are a little more understanding of human behavior, saying that there was already a storm that almost destroyed the city yet the humans are still being difficult.
52.I like how Meg is understanding her own nature better each day. This new development about having a routine to prevent the pins and needles shows there are ways for her to live a normal life . Comments.
53.I thought the human flavored human-shaped chamomile flavored cookies were absolutely hilarious and how all the Wolves were saying human flavored the moment they saw the cookies .
How much chamomile was in them to put a wolf to sleep for hours?
54.What did you think of Skippy and his condition ?
I'm not sure, I felt a little sorry for him at the beginning, but then remembered that the Others don't really like changing but they do out of necessity, so it might not be a bad thing
56. That controller is a horrible man .The girls were shown a real video of beating a girl for training and it seems that he used the girls he bought from Mr.Smith for meat grinder ! What did you think of Jean's prophecy about his future ?
I wish Tess shows him her real self
57. I wish the rape wasn't in the book, it's very gruesome as it is and it takes some of the enjoyment out for me. What do you think?
It is awful how these girls are treated, I'm glad the prophecies are showing bad things for those involved
58 .I was thinking they would catch Phineas and they would get to the Controller by the information they get from him , did you expect him to kill himself like that? I liked how the prophecy came true and what Meg and Merri Lee did .
That he killed himself took me totally by surprise, I honestly thought the Others would kill him.
And I really like how Merri Lee's character developing, I like how both her and Meg worked in a team understanding each other, Meg I think needs a human beside her
60. It was a good thing the guests saw how the police works .They might use this knowledge and ask the police to investigate instead of eating all the people involved ! What did you think about the human pack conclusion about notebooks?
Yes it was good that they saw that sometimes it's possible to work alongside humans
61. Loved the rope game! Do you think Meg will find the Controller by making a cut?
She night find where they're keeping the Cassandra sengue, or the Controller's real name, I hope the prophecy helps, it's gruesome and cruel what they're doing to these girls
62 . How did she get here? Doesn't she remember anything?
I don't remember what was said in book 1, but I think she kinda connected images from a prophecy and reached the Courtyard, remember there was a prophecy with Simon, but for her never being out in the real world before I guess it's difficult to know to go back
