This book is SO GOOD! I was really surprised by it and I liked it every bit as much as The Hunger Games, although the two were sort of similar. Did anyone else find this book similar to The Hunger Games?

I did, a little, but the more I got into it, the less I thought about I think. The ending blew me away!

This book had been on my TBR pile for a long time, I'm glad that I got a reason to push it to the top.

I finished this book last month. Loved it. :-) I can see some of the similarities of the Hunger Games, but aside from 1 or 2 things I think they are very different from each other. I'm new to Goodread and I don't how to put things into "spoilers" yet. So I'll wait until everyone is done before I give my thoughts on that. :-)

I just went back and read our thoughts from our buddy read we did last year. Here's what I said (view spoiler)[It's Hunger Games"ish"! So basically, the bad kids aren't even trying to get through. They're just all about killing off their competitors. (hide spoiler)]

We came up with the term "diet" Hunger Games which was a lighter type Hunger Games feel. I felt that the 2nd book veered away from that feel.

Here are my spoilers:

(view spoiler)[ I can see how this book can be compared to The Hunger Games since one of the key elements in both books is killing and/or death. The biggest difference though is that in THG it is known that these killings are going on, where as in The Testing it is really behind closed doors. In addition, The Testing is seen as positive, while being picked to be in THG's is not a good thing. (hide spoiler)]

Overall I liked the book, and loved the second book. It definitely took the Hunger Games feel away and took the reader into a new place. I can't wait to read the 3rd book and see how everything turns out.
