I actually like it quite a bit. I think anything with the force is neat and I like seeing different authors interpret the force in different ways. This takes me back to our discussion on the force and magic
It just seems like he is overusing it. Like he can't do anything without "reaching out with the Force".
He is very Deanna Troi like with all his reading of people's feelings.
Also his use of the Force to see through Wedge's eyes was very unique. Don't remember seeing that power used elsewhere in the EU.

Another use that I just came across that was surprising was Luke's ability to look into the future. That seems like a power that maybe he shouldn't have yet considering he is barely a Jedi. Plus I don't seem to remember him using it in future books. Or does he and I'm just not remembering?

The last time I read this book was when it was first released in 1994. It was interesting re-reading it now, in light of what we've since learned about the Force (and midi-chlorians) in the prequels, Clone Wars, and subsequent EU. At the time, very little was known about the true nature of the Force and what abilities you would have as a true Jedi.
