It depends... Once try to read Robert Frost explanations (he was nasa astronaut who answers questions on quora) about the stuff in the movies..

message 405: by Jarvis (new) - added it

Jarvis Arpit, I have read a short story by her called temporary matters. Do try it :)
As for the book, it depends on the availability in my library so I'll have to check.

At least Interstellar was good, especially father-daughter relationship was nicely portrayed. Emotional side was strong.
Haven't seen Gravity.

If you don't want to read at all... Then fine.

But if at some point of time you want to try some thing interesting and fast paced then this can be that book.

But if you tried reading ready player one., then just try to read this may be ten pages... If you don't like, then leave it.

Yeah she is... But i meant like her character... In Asimov robot series, she is there pioneer in robots and love them to the point that she prefers them than lot of other normal stuff. If you read the series then you ll get the meaning i meant.

Oh! Sorry.
I like such characters who are crazy for something (Other than human, of course. I hate cheesy romance.)
Sci-fi, well, I want to read some like Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. (classic-cum-sci-fi)

I tried The Time Machine but DNFed it after 60%.

Or i can just choose the caption as 42.

@Gehna,@Arpit Read the hitchhikers trilogy completely to get the reference.

Phani Raj (phaniraj) | 288 comments Farenheit 451 is a nice book... But i don't consider it as a sci Fi... I never understood why that is classified as Sci Fi.

Time machine: it's a classic in Sci Fi.. It was written before 1900. So you may not like it much. But there are some interesting ideas also which i liked.
If brave new world is on your list then include even 1984. They are more about future society than sci Fi. But read them back to back. Just for a fact, author of 1984 is student of the author of brave new world.

Oh, I tried it 1984, once.
I will read it, sure. I like Animal Farm too much and after completing Animal Farm, instantly, I started 1984. Big Mistake.
Animal Farm was a fairy story while 1984 was dystopian so I was too confused. I was like "It's the same author? really?"
Now after reading some Dystopia, I can handle it. (But it's too dark.)
So I should read Brave new world first? OK.

message 422: by Phani (new)

Phani Raj (phaniraj) | 288 comments Yeah... To some one who didn't read either i would recommend brave new world and then 1984 back to back.

I'm wondering the same but I think it's Utkarsh, perhaps.
Why would Gehna say sorry to Manasa for dropping this book? It was Utkarsh's favourite.

message 446: by Jarvis (new) - added it

Jarvis Since I had a lot of fun today, I propose that Phani reads and discusses Ready Player One here only and You two, Arpit and Phani join for BRs making it bigger instead of just me and Misty.

If you all don't mind, that is :)
