You ever read Richard Laymon? He's very accessible and a master of pacing. If you haven't checked him out, I think you'd really enjoy his stuff.

Definitely agree with Jonathan about Richard Laymon, that's the first name to pop in my head as well. I also think Brian Keene's work reads easily, as well as Ray Garton.
But the thing is that all his books have been translated to Spanish, very bad translated by the way, a friend who read the originals said to me that in the translation to Spanish you lost the 60% of the horror effect
