I'll have to read them then, and how to train your dragon is sounding pretty cool to!

haha The Polar Express is not too long though. I know I have read it, just not recently or anything... Hugo I did not know much about before the movie. But the whole end of the movie had WAY too much exposition, so it was really boring and I did not have an overall good feeling about it all!

^^ 105 converted is 40 degrees celsius... that is like Northern Territory temps in Summer :) but Canberra can get that high too. not very often tho. yeah I dont know which I would prefer haha
Well I don't know what you learn in school in USA but in my country we all really know that Les Miserables is a book .
haha Yup. Still need to read that book, since I got it a few months back. But, I actually had my first exposure to it with a non-musical movie. To me the musical is okay, the latest musical-movie however was TERRIBLE!
I would really like to see the musical live to compare it to, but no one close to me is doing it right now. I don't know if the right are even available.....
I've seen Les Mis twice on stage. Once on Broadway, and second time as a touring production. The play is very long, and the second act drags. I took a nice 30 minute nap in act 2 twice.
haha I love it!! I kind of want to go when it is the Les Mis jr that some high schools put on. Do that one first and then see if I want to spend money on an actual real production!
I do actually love les mis (at theatre not the movie) I've seen it so many times, I think it you either love it or hate it sort of thing.
I loved the stage musical in London a few yrs ago! So good with the sets and costumes! Great voices and overall worth the money for me :D
I have never seen the movie or the musical, or read the book haha. Although I do know what it's about... But I would love to see it
I wouldn't bother watching the movie, it's not that great but definitely go to the theatre it's great!
Thank you for the recommendation! I will definitely go to the theater when they bring it back to my city again.
I bought the book, but haven't gotten to it( Jurassic Park), but I also have plans to read Jaws and the full length of Around the World in 80 Days( I read the illustrated classics).
I read Jaws for the first time a few months ago and it was GREAT! Still need to get around to JP though... One of these days....
Do you know if the first and second are with the same characters? I know about the movies but they all change the book.
I want to read it when I get some extra time. I know it will be a tough but good one for sure! One of my friend was talking about how she doesn't plan on seeing it since she could barley make it through The Help. I kind of wanted to note that as a white person, movies like that should make her MAD our ancestors treated people that way... but she might have cried, so I let it go... She's a rather fragile one...
So I just recently found out that one of my favorite movies, Fight Club, was actually a book first. Totally blew my mind. Have to read it!
I liked that movie a lot, but was never really interested in reading the book. haven't given it a thought in years.... one thing I do know is that in book we still never learn the lead character name! I always thought that was so cool about the movie!!
I read Fight Club in a class I took in college, and I really liked it. The book goes more in depth with the characters, and gives you more of an understanding of the figh club following.

Fight Club came out when I was really young so I didn't actually watch it until I got older. If I'd known it was a book, I would've NEVER watched the movie first...lol.
Haha I think I was in high school when it came out, and I knew it was a book....but did not care much to read it at the time. I liked the movie a lot, but was not as into reading and all that, so never thought about it again. Not sure I would take the time to read it now or not....but I never rule a book out for good! ;)
The only movie I have ever watched before reading the book was The Hunger Games. I will NEVER do that again! Lol. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but when I read the book after I was so pissed that there was so much information I wasn't aware of prior to watching the movie. Now I'm obsessed! Any movie out there that I've already seen that was a book first I have to read them and get the in depth knowledge! Lol!
I don't see the movie first if I can avoid it, but recently I have found out so many movies I watched are from books! Sphere was a big shocked to me, and one of the first I went back to read. Also, Ella Enchanted was one I was blindsided with a few years ago! Now I check before going to see a new movie if it is a book as well or not. I was really glad I did that with Edge of Tomorrow, which is based off the book All You Need is Kill.
We are currently giving away a copy of it! You only have until tonight at midnight to enter to win though. It can be found in the discussion folder GIVEAWAYS! :)
I love Les Mis to death. Except that Jonas brother. DXLOL True Blood is an even worse book than a TV show, imo. I couldn't stand the Sookie books after the 5th one and it went waaaay downhill from there. At least the show has Alexander Skarsgard.
The Dexter books are so different from the show. I like both, leaning more towards the show.
wow really the sookie books aren't good? wow good to know. might just catch up with the tv series then :) I've been putting them off as thought I would read the books first :P saves time haha
Kelly wrote: "I had no idea WWZ was a book haha"IKR! I've bought it but haven't yet read it. I've been warned by others that it's different than the movie. like the movie is based from a few chapters only sort of thing. Don't know when I will get to it but its kind of high on my to read list :P
Princess Diaries and Pitch Perfect I also did not know about. I read Ella Enchanted and then later saw the movie. The book is WAY better. I'm sorry but they changed it so much. I'm gonna go find that thread about worst book to movie translations now...PS Did anyone know Harry Potter was a book? I was mind blown when I found out

I stopped watching mid-4th season, when all that fae crap came about. But I continued to attend the red carpet premieres. :D I stopped reading after the 5th book.
