Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) In the book I just finished, the couple took care of two children they met on the street. The children are orphans and were under their care so I think it meets the definition of ward. Any thoughts?

hm, according to dictionary it should be guardian appointed by parent or court
but then again, I remember few historicals I read where they had wards practically picked on the street.

You read a book so I'll leave it to you to decide if it fits or not.

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I was just about to ask for some kind of standing today. How far away are we from 25,000?

7th is great!
I think it'll probably take us a couple of weeks, will be interesting to see how many teams carry on

message 1561: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Congrats team!!! 7th isn't too shabby considering how many books we had to read to get here.

message 1565: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments ok, so since game is over, we switched rules little and now we have boon per week. That means we have one again to use it :)

Any wishes?

message 1566: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) one of the island ones?

message 1567: by April (new)

April | 200 comments I agree with the island one

message 1568: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments huh, it looks like it's starting from next round. In another words, from next week we'll have new boon each week.
We are stuck with islands little longer :(

message 1569: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments Stacie, are you going to use your book for wards?

message 1570: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) ❀Tea❀ wrote: "Stacie, are you going to use your book for wards?"

I don't think so. I mean I think it fits but at the same time it doesn't so I left it alone.

message 1571: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments looks like in the end both tropical islands are done :)

Read a book first published in April
Virgin River

message 1573: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5690 comments Mod
I've just finished reading Winter which has a main location of the moon - I don't know if that would count for a known planet...

message 1574: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments Sadly, as far as I remember Moon is not a planet :(

message 1575: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5690 comments Mod
was hoping there'd be a loophole for that one... Can't think of many books (other than the Martian) set on a known planet

message 1576: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments I'm almost done with Martian so we'll have it soon. It would be already done, but I was waiting to get new task in another challenge where I knew could use it :)

message 1577: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5690 comments Mod
Seems sensible! Nothing I've got planned to read soon matches any of the goals we've got at the moment

Yeah. I didn't check books from last few days if they fit. I'm guessing you guys did? And you'd tell me if it does?

message 1583: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) oh go me! i thought i checked everything!

message 1584: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments I checked all books for christian, and found none. Which is really surprising with how much smut we have on our shelves *snikers*

Ladies, we need to tone it down and read something that won't make you blush :P

message 1585: by Stacie (new)

message 1591: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments Yeah, not sleeping yet, but trying to read in bed ;)

Tide of war could work (if I have it translated right)
Both MCs are fighting in war and (view spoiler) You could say they are both there for each other in hard times

message 1592: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Sounds good to me! I'll add it.

message 1593: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Read a book that mentions a Greek god.

message 1594: by Venecia (new)

Venecia | 995 comments Stacie wrote: "Read a book that mentions a Greek god."

What does that mean? Just the name being used by someone?

message 1595: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I believe so but I can double check.

message 1596: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I think since the game is over we can be a bit more liberal.

message 1597: by Venecia (last edited Feb 03, 2016 08:57AM) (new)

Venecia | 995 comments I have the name Nike in one of my books but they are talking about the shoe not the Goddess

Hm...
If you ask me that would be stretching it and if this was still challenge I'd say no way. But since we are doing this for fun, I'll let you decide yes or no. Especially since I'd need to know which book you are talking about :)

That said, in my current book there is school called Hecate, but they do mention goddess in one sentence when asking how school got name.
