❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments I think we have books for everything except Y.

I didn't start filing it yet since I though to wait for Kelly to get back home and rework formula so books show up as used. Not to mention there are some spreadsheet problems in last few days (someone mentioned that gsheets are also probably celebrating new year :P). I'm having problems with ss in good days, so i didn't want to tangle much when they are having bad days ;)
Anyway, Kelly should be back home later today and she'd check what's wrong and hopefully work it out.

I really wasn't in a hurry, since it's going for whole month, books that bring points are already read in December, and I though better to still have books unused in case some goal comes by.
With my luck, if I put book into Jan challenge, next goal will be for that book and we won't have another one to use instead :P

Yeah, I have. I'll be done with current book soon and then I'll start it. I was kinda hoping that I'll read at least one Harry Potter book in order this year round of rereading.

Nicole B | 185 comments musing about the alternate history goal. Could Ella, The Slayer count because the history is the same up until after ww1 when zombies appear? (the book is set after ww1 but before when ww2 would have happened)

message 1279: by April (new)

April | 200 comments For the alt his book, does that mean the book is catalogued as Alt His?

If so, my next book is Doomsday Book by Connie Willis

message 1280: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I'm going to let Tea weigh in on these. Sorry ladies!

message 1281: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments For alternate history in FAQ
It's an alternate history to the one we know. So one in which Hitler rose to power, or the South won the Civil War.
It's a different history from the one we know, and can only be our world (no fantasy places/worlds) though the genre could be anything as long as it's set on Earth and is different in a major way to what we know.

It does help if book is tagged as alt his but it doesn't have to be.

Zombies seem like little stretch, since they don't really exist (right?) but similar books have been used, so I guess it's ok.

Now if someone is here to fill in spreadsheet, that would be great (my interent is acting up - for example, I'm trying to post this for 15 minutes now *fingers crossed it finally goes*)

April | 200 comments Ok, so The Virgin's Daughter absolutely works for Alt His

Story is Elizabeth I takes over for her brother (who survived to rule but died at 20) and marries Phillip of Spain and has a legit daughter!

Can't get more Alt His than that!

With January mini challenge (that Australia thing), which btw we finished! (Great job team with all those unused books!). When we complete spell-it-out, we can pick one of the books read in December and double its points. Obviously, we went with 'smallest' ones like Gone With the Wind, The Wise Man's Fear,... :)

Of course, you can still read it and we can save it if it comes again :)

For last few hours I've been hanging here, linking things, so I got very far with it (pg 5!). Not to mention formatting is terrible so it little distracting.

You will win. I just don't seem to read as fast as I used too. Yet I still manage 80 books a year. Guess my standards are just really high

message 1300: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Hi sorry for being absent for a while again.

I managed to finish 3 books, and I've added those to the books read thread. None of them fitted the current goals.

I've gotten into a slump mode where I don't seem to read as much as I used to. I hope I get back into the right mode again soon. It's been a long time since I only finished 4-5 books during a month.
