Ok sorry. I know about that one. I thought there was a Goodreads shelf, not my personal

No worries, confused me for a bit when I first saw it as well

message 703: by April (new)

April | 200 comments All of my highest rated ones will not be published for a few months. Why are they rated?

And yes I put unpublished books on my to read list (even books ti be published in 2017 or later). How will I know they are out otherwise?

Sophie (drsophie) | 5690 comments Mod
I've done the same with things on mine, especially when they're the next in a series I've started.

I don't really understand rating books before you've read them - even if you love the author you can't guarantee the book will be any good; also if it's something you wouldn't read that doesn't mean I think it needs a bad review.

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I don't understand that either when someone rates a book before reading them. I do know, however that sometimes authors give out copies pre release date, so as to get some reviews out for everyone else to look at before deciding to read a book. So maybe sometimes that's the reason. Mostly I see users rate books just because they like the cover/author.

Review copies would explain some of it. Would love to think most, but I suspect that's over optimistic

- Read a book where a character is an undertaker

- Read a book where the title starts with the letter J

- Read a book with a pink cover

- Read a book that your co-captain or captain has read which is on your "to read" shelf (go to the person's profile -->compare books)

That would work. I'll check if we have something else first if you don't mind and save that one in case we get set on ship goal

Back to work today, so my reading will slow down

message 724: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3801 comments Does this cover count as red?

The Novel Habits of Happiness (Isabel Dalhousie, #10) by Alexander McCall Smith ?

If so I can start it for the Holiday Challenge.

(and we still need pink cover for goal ☺)

Oh well that works! I'll start it once I'm done with my book.

I've lost track of what people are reading for what goals at the moment. What I'm reading won't fit any of them so I'm happy for any to be booned. Would prob say Middle East or Undertaker if no-one is working on them because they've been around the longest.

Rebecca is reading (or will be) pink, and Venecia asked about if something fits for undertaker.
I have no idea for others

The captain/co-captain one I can cover with a Nora Roberts pretty happily in a few days time, but won't be an immediate read. Think most of the ones I haven't read are either on your read shelf or Stacie's.

She was one of few authors I could borrow from library when I was still reading non-English books. I think she's still one of most translated here (hard not to be when she comes out with couple of books every year :P)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5690 comments Mod
I just take for granted that most things are published in English! Not a bad author to be able to read.

message 735: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Yeah I definitely think Middle East for the boon as of today.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments hm, I'm about 1/3 into American Gods and I have no idea what's going on it there. :)
I do get main story (I think) but every so often there are jumps in it, either in past or somewhere else, and new characters showing up all the time acting like you already met them. It's confusing me! At least I have a feeling that MC is right there with me :P

This is starting to be fun :) I switched to audiobook (I still have to follow text from time to time) and it's full cast. Guys are great.
BTW, still no idea what's going on...

I'm currently listening to The Bone Clocks which is pretty confusing and was planning to start American Gods when I finish. Sounds like the combination of 2 books including fantasy in this world, jumps through time and obscure links between characters might melt my brain though!

message 742: by Venecia (new)

Venecia | 995 comments I have a book for middle east but I won't be getting to it anytime soon, so my vote is to use the boon for that.

message 743: by Eni (new)

Eni | 2349 comments It seems the boon's going to the middle east goal. I would say wait until tomorrow night, just so we see if we get a very nasty goal that needs to be taken care of xD (aka a new goal pops up that's very difficult)

April's reading the red cover book right? I'll go find a cookie one xD

message 744: by April (new)

message 749: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments OK, guys. I'm going on a business trip tomorrow morning and won't be back until next weekend.
Main problem with this trip is that I don't have time to read!. There is also minimal internet connection but I see that as minor problem. I won't have time to read! Last few trips I had, I managed to read about 50 pages in 10 days.

Other mods, mainly Karsyn, will be here if you need something.

See you when I get back
