Status update on spreadsheet:

Caitlyn you are now on there and things seem to be working as they should.

Thank you Tea & Sonia!!

Also the spreadsheet was pulling a book from Wren it shouldn't have. That was fixed as well, so our points are now accurate.

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I'm glad to hear everything is taken care of. :)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I just finished Deep (Stage Dive, #4) by Kylie Scott . What do you think are those jeans or not?

Maybe. Too bad he can't come closer so I can have a better look. Or touch. *giggles*

Or should we keep this one in case "read a book with a sexy tatted-up man on the cover" is a goal?

In all seriousness though, we could ask the mods. It's hard to tell but the pants look black. So they could be black jeans or some other material.

I wonder if "read a book with an instrument/guitar on the cover" is a possible goal. Because this would be perfect for that.

message 209: by Tori (new)

Tori Coulson Hi Guys!

Sorry i've been missing all weekend. I visited my sister for a big family gathering down south and i had no signal (she lives in the peak district, its very hilly)

I didn't get much reading time unfortunately but on the way back i was literally reading by torch light

i'm still on with child thief (i don't know how to do those link things) i'm behind with my dqs but i should be able to get them done tonight. i'm nearly finished but i'm not overly impressed with it but still intrigued enough to keep going to the end.

i'm set up to start pretty girls or whatever that next bom is called when that starts. however i cant get a copy of that six or crows or whatever so ill have to skip that one and pick something different yet challenge friendly

am i ok with the spreadsheet? do you need anything more off me? is the spreadsheet something i can look at or just mods? can someone please link me where i'm meant to list me finished books (other then my pre-made shelf)? am if im missing anything else can someone please give me a shake?

right, off to sainsburys

message 210: by Imke (new)

Imke (immie75) | 1644 comments I think they are, but you can ask the Mods to be sure.

By the way I get to write a set of DQ's for the Pretty Girls BOM

Caitlyn wrote: "I am!"

Caitlyn (and everyone as an FYI), to get participation points for the BOM (in this case The Child Thief) make sure you post your comments, etc in the appropriate BOM thread. If you don't post, you can't get the points.

We have to link to one of your posts to confirm participation.

The thread is under the BOM section on the group homepage for NBRC.

Tori, I found one of yours and I already linked it. Once you finish the book and mark it as read the points will be counted. No rush to finish, I just didn't want you wondering why the points weren't showing up yet.

You don't need to worry about linking to or modifying the spreadsheet. Dragana, Imke, and I handle all of that. It's good to look at it from time to time to make sure your books are showing up (that will happen only when they are marked read and if you remembered to shelve them on your tower teams shelf.)

And don't feel you need to read all of the BOMs. Only read those you are interested in. Please read whatever strikes your fancy & enjoy. Extra points for BOM participation is great, but this is supposed to be fun and not a chore.

So read what you want :)

I hope you had a fun time with family!

Those are jeans, I'll put it down for the goal.

Yeah I think they are some weird leggings kind of jeans. Why not. I'll enter it, just wanted to check with the team first. :)

If we need another book with guitar or tattoos, no worries I can read another. :D

message 215: by Dragana (last edited Nov 09, 2015 05:20AM) (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) OK Judith was so kind to enter Deep for jeans goal and the new goal is:

- Read a book with the main genre (listed on the first page on GR) as Chick Lit. [TheButterflyEffect?]
- Read a book that starts with the letter Q [Imke?]
- Read a book where the page numbers add to 17 (i.e. 345 pages = 3+4+5 = 12) [Caitlyn?]
- Read a book with a lamp or other non-natural light source on cover.
- Read a book where a character is a nurse [Imke?]

message 216: by Imke (new)

Imke (immie75) | 1644 comments I can take care of the new goal. I'm almost finished with a book where the mom of one of the main characters is a nurse.

And for anyone looking for the thread link to post books completed, it's on the first page of our discussion thread underneath all the team names.

There's links for our team spreadsheet, a comparison across teams spreadsheet, and the thread for Team Thor completed books.

thank you for the help judith!

i'm ok with the boms. i usually think of it as a good way to find new books i wouldn't normally read. however if you tracked my reading progress recently you'd see i've been fairly naughty and slipped off the reading wagon. the problem is recently i've been starting books but none of them have kept my attention. station 11 has been a massive disappointment. i love post apocalypse type things (fallout 4!!!!!) and half way through i'm still bored so that will be getting dumped. the miniaturist had so much potential too but that was just tooo slow

message 219: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Don't worry Tori it happens to everyone. :)
I wanted to read The Rest of Us Just Live Here but it was slow and not interesting so I gave up. I think it's better to quit then suffer trough a book (that might be good but it) does not suit you.

You can read whatever you want as long as it has over 100 pages or over 25000 words. and you get points according to page number
Participation points are extra points for those that are reading current Books of the Month and participating in their discussion.

Double oh no! Zee said the same thing about the Miniaturist as Tori.

The book is at the top of my to-read pile. Like the actual book. Hopefully I'll find it more interesting . . .

the book was lovely and quaint with an interesting mystery going on but it moves at a very slow pace. if you can handle the slow pace then the book is good. the characters (except for the main character in my opinion) are interesting and its a good look into dutch trading (i like to read about history and things are rarely from the dutch point of view)

youve just gotta get over the slow pace

i'm from Durham, anything south of Darlington is practically another country hehe

I love where i'm from though, a lot of people think we're just uneducated ex-coal miners and mostly thats true, but we can laugh about it :)

message 227: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I really like Durham, I've been a few times because my Dad's family is from County Durham and it's a super pretty city with really friendly people!

I'm originally from Nottingham, so that's sort of where I draw the north-south divide :-P

message 228: by Tori (new)

Tori Coulson What a shocker! I have more questions. I'm participating in the BOM and answering daily questions. do my point not appear for that until I'm finished the book?

message 229: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Tori wrote: "What a shocker! I have more questions. I'm participating in the BOM and answering daily questions. do my point not appear for that until I'm finished the book?"

Yes you have to finish reading the book for your points from participating in BOM discussion or writing daily questions to appear.

Would The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas work? I just started it yesterday.

I don't think it will work, unless yours has a different cover. The cover on mine has some lightening looking design behind her. But not a lamp or light fixture.

Does your edition show something different? Can you link your edition cover to the thread? Unless you already did that, then ignore me. My app doesn't always let the book covers in threads show up.

Yeah, now it's showing up. Stupid phone app.

I don't think that's a non-natural light source. But I'm interested in everyone's thoughts

When you are typing a comment, look above the comment box and click where it says "add book/author". Search for the book and then you can either add a link or cover image.

You post all books finished in the read books thread, you also post which goal it fits. If the book doesn't fit any of the current goals you can post some special things about the book that aren't very obvious from the cover or the blurp. If the book does fit a goal you can also post it here so that your teammates know which goal has been done and then Judith, Dragana or me will post a goal update with a new goal added.

message 248: by Tori (new)

Tori Coulson I really hope I can get some good reading time tonight. I've been going flat out at work and with wedding planning and I would give anything for a quiet night with a book

We were able to use Plain Truth for the chick-lit book. So we'll find a new home for Fangirl so we could get a new goal sooner.

New Goal:

Read a book with an average Goodreads rating between 3.01 and 3.5

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 334 comments I finished my book for the 3rd in series goal. Posted on finished thread.
