Andrea, I think i saw Lair of Dreams as a Buddy Read for this month. If that's something you might be interested in, I wouldn't want you to miss out.

Yeah, we decided to allow Child Thief to be started before challenge, but it has to be finished after start. That way all those who participate in BOM can get their points. That is only book that can be started early.

I've never done the Buddy Read before either, I just noticed the title in the newsletter and thought I'd mention it to you just in case since you were going to be reading the book.
I pretty much thought the same thing the first time I signed up for a challenge. I got way more into it than I expected to the point I decided to volunteer to be a captain for the next challenge I signed up for. And here I am :)

I'll have a catch up tonight, i cant wait!

Hi Tori. Cute kid. :) I'm glad to see another team member from Europe. I will have company to chat while USA member are sleeping. ;)

cool so i'm finished work and i've had a jolly good read through.
i dunno if i mentioned but this is the first time i've done any type of game like this so i apologise for being dense but i promise i make up for it with enthusiasm.
- i haven't the foggiest about these goals. i don't know where to find them or what to do with them. i saw a thread of faqs about them but it was like 'does my animal fit in the animal section?' what is the animal section? do i have to read books with animals in them? just one or ten books about animals?
- how do i complete reading a book to go to our points total? just read it and add it to my shelf? or is there more?
- how long does the competition last? im happy if its a week or for the rest of my life but im curious
i think thats it for now but i am super dooper sorry if i turn into the idiot who always asks dumb questions
anyway, im off to go read todays child thief parts (i properly feel sorry for Nick, hes gone from one sucky situation to another)

- goals - in that FAQ thread you'll also find link for spreadsheet with goals. When challenge starts, your team will get spreadsheet and on it there'll be 5 goals. You don't have to read book for goal exclusively (it's upto team), but if your book fits any of the goals, your captain will use it and you'll (team) get new goal.
- For book to count you need to add read date and put it on your challenge shelf. Spreadsheet will use your shelf name to load your finished books in and count points. You don't have to worry about anything beside reading and tagging books properly.
- Challenge is over when first team reaches 25000 points. At the moment we estimate it to go till February, but we'll know more as the game goes. We can't really predict what books will people read, and all those extra points.
And don't worry. Feel free to ask as much as you need :)

In case that audiobook doesn't have real page numbers (and mostly don't), we are going to use default edition. Ideal case would be for you to tag that default edition (not just on shelf since it needs to have date read). But honestly, I can't ask you to do that especially since I also prefer having edition I actually read on my shelves. That would also mean that you'd have audio and default edition on your shelves (both with read dates) and that would mess with your yearly count (if you are doing that).
Now after I made your eyes glaze over and probably confused you even more (:P), just tag edition you are reading and put it on your challenge shelf. In case of audiobook, make note to your captains about it and they'll fix it (make page override) in spreadsheet.

Imagine if there was a challenge that actually lasted for the rest of our lives.... hahaha. Actually, I might have a shot of doing alright in the RPG if it was that long!
(BTW, Welcome Tori! I'm 27 and also from the UK and see you've already friended me, so yay)

oh no! You think we could last that long?!

Thanks for clearing that up!

You need to have shelf you'll use for this challenge. Call it whatever you want, just use it only for books you'll be reading or already read for this challenge. Since we are using spreadsheet that will load books you have on that shelf by itself, we need something that will be specific.
That way it's going to be easier for your captains also to check if you have everything tagged then searching through all your shelves to check. :)
You don't have to have books on it yet or anything. I just need name for now.

Hi Sonya, the mods need the link to the shelf you are going to use to put the books you have read on. Like the way I did in my post.

Hi Shy, you post a link to the shelf you are going to use for this challenge to put books on.

Depends. Some people don't remember what they put in signup :)
I found yours :)

It's the same one you used for sign ups, if you have already made it, just post the link to that shelf in this thread.

Where?
No, I need something like 2014-sve you already have. It needs to be a shelf, not thread in some challenge.
I'm really sorry to make it so much trouble, but we made script for spreadsheet that needs it so it can import books to spreadsheet. That way it's easier on captains and they don't have to spend much time adding everyone's books in to get points.
If you are not sure how to do it, go to My Books on top of the page. Then on left side pick edit next to bookshelves. And then in top row (where it says add) create new shelf.
I can come with images little later if needed. As soon as I finish with other spreadsheets

OK. Thanks.
Do you mind if I delete thread you made? Or you want to use it for something else. I can move it into member challenges tracking
I don't really know how to add my self, but here's the link. https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Thanks :)
