My thoughts exactly!
I found an ebook set in a New Zeland that's not expensive and I'm interested to read it. Talking Dirty with the CEO (Talking Dirty, #1) by Jackie Ashenden . Who knows, maybe he buys her a ring with Alexandrite. :D

Caroline Kelemen | 252 comments Lol There's literally a book called The Alexandrite: A time-travel noir on kindle for 99 cents! It really doesn't sound like my kind of book, but I'll just leave the link here in case someone really wants to stick it to this goal!

I found a book with Alexandrite in the text that seemed interesting enough for me to read. I'll read it after I finish the Grisham book for the briefcase goal

I might of trolled through the other team spreadsheets until I found one that had completed the goal using a book that seemed interesting.

Work smarter, not harder ;)

Pardon Our Dust!

The mods are currently tinkering behind the scenes. This may cause some random spreadsheet issues. Please be patient with us while we continue to make the Tower Teams challenge even better!

Everything will be back to normal soon. Thanks for understanding!

No worries Tori, this is all for fun so participate when and as much as you can. But you are allowed to have a busy life.

And, Happy Birthday :)

Briefcase goal is completed.

New Goal:
Read a book that is in the "Big Fat Books Worth the Effort" Listopia List (https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...)

While I don't think any of the goalless books are on this list (unless I missed something), American Gods is. This is the next BOM. Imke, Tori, and I are all reading it I believe. So one of our reads will take care of this goal if another one doesn't come up first.

I know I thought the same thing! I've started the alexandrite book, I'll either be done that today or tomorrow.

And my next audiobook is set in Australia so that will take care of the southern hemisphere mini-challenge category. I think that just leaves the New Zealand one, right?

Imke, the DQ assignments are up for American Gods.

You were selected for DQs on Day 2, Dec 3rd (Chapters 4 & 5, pgs 70-130).

They have me down as your backup. If you are really busy this week with 'real life' let me know.

I'm glad one of us was chosen this time :)

I loved Warm Bodies. If you ignore some a bit disturbing descriptions of brain-eating (not for the squeamish) it has a refreshing tale and cute characters.

I did a bit of poking around. This might be worth using a boon to get rid of it. Most of the books shelved as 2003, don't have it on their first page so we can't use those books. I think the only exception is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Let me know what people think or if we found a book that will work for this goal.

Boon request made. I almost forgot about them!

We are going to be 'stuck' with whatever goals we get until week 5. This used our request for Weeks 3/4. Even though we never swapped one out for Weeks 1/2, they don't carry over.

Once we have the new goal, I'll let everyone know.

Andrea Freeland (kazeshinix) | 125 comments Okay I feel stupid but where are the top shelves, I have been looking but I found a few different things, could someone point me in the right direction?

message 496: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 7477 comments Mod
Top shelves and genres are the same thing on GR.

If you are on the main GR page for a book, on the right a little way down you'll see the main genres listed. At the bottom of the list, there'll be a link that says 'top shelves'.

If you want to search for books on a particular shelf name, you search under genre

FYI - I put a question to the mods to see if a top shelf of 'war' could count for military.

If the answer is yes, we have that goal taken care of.
