Children's/YA science fiction book. Kids somehow ended up on an alien-type world (maybe kidnapped?) where the sky was purple. He says they were maybe being made to work for whoever took/had them. A kid escaped and had to swim across a silver-colored sea. Fish were nibbling at his clothes, so he took them off. When he got to the other side (naked), he met a tribe of a primate-type species that lived in a forest. He thinks they took him in and gave him clothes and shelter...
There was some sort of (special? rare?) fruit the ape-people would eat. He remembers the kid being in a crowd of these primate people and someone threw fruit out to the group and he was able to jump up at get a piece because he was taller than all of them.
He said the cover may have had a picture of the purple sky and silver sea on it.
It all seems pretty random to me! Is it familiar to any of you?
