If you buy any off your wishlist, don't forget to delete them off so somebody doesn't end up buying them for you again! :)

I believe the email Amazon sends notifying you of the gift gives you the option to exchange it.
Themis wrote: "Yep i figured it out! I will get an other book Secret Santa! Not to worry!"
I'm glad it worked out. Happy reading!

Not a problem! Glad to help.
So is anyone else trying to figure out a tactful way to say "so, did you get the f'ing book or not?" because you can't tell with ARe whether someone claimed it or not. No? Just me? Well, crap!
Shannon wrote: "So is anyone else trying to figure out a tactful way to say "so, did you get the f'ing book or not?" because you can't tell with ARe whether someone claimed it or not. No? Just me? Well, crap!"I don't know if this helps or not, Shannon, but all my gifts have come from ARe and all the ones I've sent have been from there and everything has been sent and received without a problem. If they have an ARe account the book is automatically placed into their library as soon as you send it. I know it would be nice if they posted on the share your goodies thread or whatever it's called here and then you'd know for sure. Hopefully they'll do that soon.

You could message them through elfster!
You could message them through elfster!
K wrote: "Nope not just you Shannon. ARe fails massively at sending me or my giftee any notifications...."That's what I'm afraid of. I think I'll do the message thingy that Heather mentioned because that would be smart...which is why I've been planning it...because I already thought of that. I so totally did! *faceplant*
Shannon wrote: "So is anyone else trying to figure out a tactful way to say "so, did you get the f'ing book or not?" because you can't tell with ARe whether someone claimed it or not. No? Just me? Well, crap!"Not just you, I went and looked at their gdread shelves to see if they'd been shelved.
If you can't do that then ask through Elfster.
Shannon wrote: "So is anyone else trying to figure out a tactful way to say "so, did you get the f'ing book or not?" because you can't tell with ARe whether someone claimed it or not. No? Just me? Well, crap!"It is kinda rude to not acknowledge the gift has been received.
I know last year I got a note saying 'thanks for the book' and I got all anxious because I sent more than one and did that mean they hadn't received the others...This is more than I spend on books for myself at any one time, so it's nice to know if they've been received.

Well, I definitely can't claim that, because I'm pretty unrestrained with myself too! ;) But I agree that's it's rude not to say thank you for any gift. Doesn't matter how many I already have, I'm always ecstatic to get more books.

Are you kidding me? (no need to answer it's a purely rhetorical question) Manners people where are our manners? I know I'm not the only one who has done fangirl thank yous to their friends and SS's all over the place here for the lovely gifts they've received. Meep be warned if you ever get me for your SS name. I will be thanking you until you are so sick of it you tell me to shut up and go away, lol. Hopefully whoever you got will realize their oversight and remedy it soon. But in the meantime here's a *hug*.
Thanks *hugs back*Even though we do wish-lists my reaction is completely OMG you got me xx, I've been so wanting to read that.

I felt horrible when I realized I had a book in my ARe library that I hadn't known about. Whoops! Do they normally send notifications? Shannon wrote: "So is anyone else trying to figure out a tactful way to say "so, did you get the f'ing book or not?" because you can't tell with ARe whether someone claimed it or not. No? Just me? I don't know if they do or not Vicki. All my gifts were through Amazon. You'd think they would but I don't think they're the most "with it" book seller.

They do, however, I've found them in my junk email and since I actually forward my Gmail (because I hate the Gmail interface (why can't you fuckin' sort your Gmail by From like every other email program on the face of the earth; I know, I know you can do that filtering thing but I want it easy to sort)) to my Outlook email and it seems to have difficulty with that and does an undeliverable.
(But I like Gmail's spam filtering so that's why I just forward from it and I had my GMail first)

I am so totally excited about this. This book is so far outside of the box for me, it's almost scary but in a fun way. If you want to do a re-read we'd love to have you join in.
