I read this book in the early 90's It's YA or MG about a girl who's sister has leukemia or some other form of life threatening cancer. The sister with leukemia is the popular pretty sister and the sister who is telling the story is the quiet shy one. She responds to her sister's leukemia by getting angry and retreating to the barn where the sisters have horses. She spends all her time at the barn working through her grief and meets a boy who works at the barn. I think they end up becoming boyfriend/girlfriend. The MC refuses to go see sister in Hospital until it is almost too late and she is really sick.
