Jim Fromm | 5 comments Over the past 5 years, I have reviewed nearly 150 books per year. I have no idea who the individual authors are. Many were Sci-Fi, others were legal fiction. My review record only shows one year. Next week, I am publishing my third book entitled "I Am One". I would really appreciate some reviews or advice on how to ask the authors to reciprocate. Thanks Jim

Hi Jim,
You can certainly request reviews, however asking for reciprocal or "swapped" reviews is frowned upon and is a violation of Amazon's TOS.

What you will want to do is place a request in the appropriate groups. Some are set up specifically for reviews, some, like this one, have a folder set up specifically to ask, but others may not want you asking at all (not all groups on GR are indie friendly, as you might have noticed from another recent thread). It's definitely best if you follow the Goodreads best practices for authors. All it takes is a handful of people to think you are spamming to have your account deleted.

Jim Fromm | 5 comments Thank you so much. Obviously, I don't have a clue. I'll try to reach out in another way.

No worries! We've all been there with the Goodreads learning curve. Social media is both a blessing and a curse for authors.

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 200 comments There are groups on GR that are specific to a genre but others are more generic. However, the waiting list on the most popular groups are often very long. For example, the group Shut up and Read are booked until May 2016 and still accepting requests. They are indie friendly for their Read and Reap; however, I don't think they do Indies for their Book Of The Month.

I'm just giving you an example. I'm sure there are plenty others too if you look around. Just be sure the groups are open for R&R before posting a request. (Oh, and if they are, make sure to post in the right folder.)
