So I'm at about 20% (view spoiler)[So far this book seems to be a weird mishmash of a lot of different things. I'm honestly a bit lost and just when I think I have my footing another weird thing gets thrown at me.

So first my impression was that this was a little similar to Harry Potter. That impression has only grown as I read on. But now I think it's Harry Potter in reverse.

Iolanthe is very like Harry Potter in that she is raised by a guardian. Has 'very special' magical powers. Is prophesied to fight a powerful magical being. It has wands. And the world they are initially in is magical with a lot of magical items.

They (meaning the prince and Iolanthe) also eventually travel to England.

The confusing elements I've encountered so far is:

Atlantis? Really, Atlantis??? I'm very confused where that is coming from.

The fact that they seem to be in a magical kingdom to start with but then travel to England a place with no magic??? (hide spoiler)]

5% (view spoiler)[Honestly, I don't know how I feel about the opening chapter. I thought this was a fantasy, but then it almost read like a contemporary, but with magical elements. Needless to say, I was very confused at what I was reading. I wasn't pulled into the book during the first chapter, but I wasn't repelled either. I hope things start making sense soon.
