Jack feels Talia was just as much a victim as the other women. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments My memory of the previous stories is not as sharp, but I like that Jack saw Talia as victim. She certainly did not know she was even involved with a married man at the beginning, did she?

I didn't think she was going into the story. But the more I learned about her circumstances, the more I began to believe she was indeed a victim. It was just hard to get over her having lied to put Sean in jail, on death row no less.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Yes, there is that. Probably one of the factors in why I couldn't see her as a character I'd ever remotely like.

Plus, all we got to see in the earlier books was her scheming side.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I also saw her as a victim - there are a lot more details about how she came to be with David in the first book and it is made clear that she was very young and in a vulnerable position when he seduced her. Once she figured out who he really was it was too late and he began threatening her sister.

Yes, the fact that her testimony put Sean on death row was hard to swallow but given the circumstances, it is difficult to put all the blame on Talia. There was a lot of evidence against Sean aside from hers and when push came to shove, she eventually did the right thing even though it placed her in danger.

I just don't recall much from the first book that made me sympathetic to Talia. My brain was probably clouded by her decision to let Sean stew on death row.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments She wasn't an easy person to like, at any rate....
