The Perfect Game
question
wtf

ok i just want to point out that i stopped reading this book half-way through. (i have a serious problem, i do it all the time) anyhoo i read the spoilers and got seriously pissed so i stopped but even at the beginning i was : wtf
ok so it was your cliche damaged girl and playboy girl changed guys ways, they fall in love yadda yadda yadda.
so typically at the beginning the guy is asking the girl out and she's giving him the cold shoulder. then he promises her to leave her alone after the date so she's like "it couldn't hurt" then this was when i started to get lost, because at the end of the date they have this heart to heart moment then next chapter there dating.
i had to check to see if I'd accidentally skipped half the book.
as i was telling you earlier i read the spoilers to find out what happened and what i read made me want to punch jack and cassie in the face i mean how could you be so STUPID.
spoiler alert
jack just had to fuck everything up didn't he lets go cheat on my girlfriend, and not even with a nice girl, cassie is a NICE GIRL!!! but nooooo there had to be a problem miss sterling it couldn't have been fine. and jack must be really horny and weak minded (not to mention a jackass, cheater, fucktard, jerk of the year) if he couldn't control his dick around yet another slut throwing herself at him.
i cant blame my hatred all on jack though Cassie seriously can you not be anymore weak minded for fucks sake. he cheated on you, got another girl preggo, then married her, and the second he turns back to you you forgive him arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
to be honest i can hold a grudge for years but seriously even jesus wouldn't have forgiven jack for what he did(and i've heard he's a forgiving person)
i could not think of a more pathetic couple.

I suppose it depends on your own view of cheating and whether or not you could ever accept it and learn to trust the other person ever again.
Personally, I agree with you - in the sense that I'd never take him back, just because he simply forgot about her. ( I know by this point he'd probably forgot his own name with how drunk he was, but still.) It's does set up a sort of 'She forgave me once' standard. And let's be honest. I think she'd take him back if he did it again.
I did however finish the book and read the other two.
As much as I hated what he did, I still loved the book. Definitely worth finishing. I wasn't really impressed with the second one but still, you should finish this one.

#1 Mistake is that you read the spoiler. :( It sucks, but it happens sometimes. It will ruin a deliciously angsty read.
#2 Mistake is that you left it unfinished and with all this to rant about. It seems like this book really affected you, so you must have been into it. You should probably finish (maybe not now, but sometime) to get between the truth and the lies. Or I could just tell you. :)
For the record, I don't disagree about the characters stupidity and immaturity levels but I enjoyed this book for the angst and I love a read that drives me up the wall. At the time, it was what I was in the mood for, but if cheating is in your 'No Go Zone' then I understand why you dropped it. I think I even slapped my book a few times wishing it was their faces (all 3). lol

Actually Jack didn't technically cheat on her. That's one thing I had a really hard time struggling over with this book.
He has already repeatedly turned down a girl who keeps sexually harassing him. He ends up drinking so much that the conversations taking place in his own head barely make much sense. The girl doesn't take no for an answer and they end up sleeping together. In the morning he's devastated.
I'm sorry but if you turned the sexes around in this story, it would be rape. If a girl is at a bar and a guy keeps sexually harassing her and she keeps turning him down cold, and I mean bburrrr kinda cold, make no mistake, I'm not teasing you, I find you detestable kinda cold but then the girl drinks herself practically into a comma but yet the guy ends up sleeping with her?? Seriously??? RAPE!
So yeah, I was really bothered by this. NOWHERE does Jack ever suggest that he didn't know what he was doing and he actually didn't know. He was out of his mind, literally. He'd turned down someone over and over while sober AND drunk. Not until his cognitive abilities were practically gone was he taken advantage of.
The stupid thing that Jack did was allow himself to get THAT plastered when there was an obvious sexual predator hunting him. But he's a man and probably just didn't think to protect himself that way, like a woman would in a similar situation.
But because Jack was a player and a guy, this rape gets over looked.

uhm lol
I can't stand cheating in a book. It makes me sick. It breaks my heart... that being said. Jack just didn't hop in to bed with someone and Cassie didn't just forgive him.
When I started reading this series, it was my first J Sterling novel. And I was HOOKED. She IS a phenomenal writer.
This wasn't a cheesy sleezy novel. It was a heart-wrenching, heart-felt, gut-wrenching JOURNEY of love earned back!!!!!!! They both suffered from Jack's act ... but you will later "read" that Jack didn't actually do anything. The stupid bitch tricked him. But, Jack didn't go running back to Cassie and tell her.... He got his shit together. Filed for divorce from that skank. Then WORKED his asss off.
So, you might not think that this journey is worth it for you to continue, but, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the strength that these 2 showed during their gut-wrenching journey. J Sterling pulls you in to the story and by the end, your heart is beating a normal pace ..again!! I cried right along with Cassie. I fist pumped right along with Cassie. She was not a weak character!!
A strong female doesn't have to be a c**t to someone to be considered *strong*. Forgiving someone is STRONG, and should be commended!!!
Just my 2....or 100 cents! lol
