message 705: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Thanks all, for weighing in. I thought ridgeback, for the face, but she definitely doesn't have the pronounced spine.

Our pitbull isn't too thrilled, but she got used to a few cats who have come and gone including newborn kittens, so I'm hopeful she'll get use to her. I thought she was a boy for a bit, but no, she's a girl. By teeth, we think she's 8ish weeks, maybe a little more.

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Hello Everyone!

I am working on something new to try and would like an opinion from anyone who feels inclined to give one.

Would it be beneficial to your team to have the new goals automatically posted to your team thread. And if so, would you like only the new goals posted or would you like all goals posted as well.

Example:

New Goals
⊕ Read a book with the phrase "An arm and a leg" in a book

All Goals
• Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as random - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
• Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as asia - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
• Read a book that has the birthstone Aquamarine in the text or title
• Read a book where the title starts with the letter P
• Read a book with the phrase "An arm and a leg" in a book

message 717: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments I would like to have ALL GOALS posted....I'm not able to access the Google Docs at all times, so being able to quickly reference what is currently open is helpful when it's posted in the thread. I've appreciated with the captains have posted it periodically what's open, so if you were able to 'automagically' post it to help save the Captains from needing to do it, I would love it! That's great if you can make either happen!

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I like the All Goals option and definitely like this idea!

Alison (Lady Coffin) S | 949 comments Interesting list of Goals there Kelly!
lol!

I think All Goals, is a better reminder.

However, is it an instant thing?
Or would they have a slight delay?
New goal pops up, but can be filled by a book already read. So would it post two in quick succession?
Or with a slight delay maybe only having it run once an hour then only the truly newest gets auto posted.
Thinking out loud, so hope I made sense.

message 720: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments It would probably be an instant thing, otherwise the captains would probably just post the goals anyway.

message 721: by Jen (new)

Jen (reader44ever) | 2930 comments I agree that having All Goals shared makes the most sense, but, like Alison, I'm wondering how this would work when a new goal can be met by an already read but unused book. Our (Team Artemis) Captains have sometimes been able to knock out three "new" goals without ever needing to share them with us. They share the updated goals once those goalless books have been applied.

Seconding Alison's and Jen's question concerning goal runs.

Otherwise, while I like the idea, I also like doing this kind of thing manually - makes me feel like I'm actually doing something as a captain ;-)

message 723: by Melissa (ladybug) (new)

Melissa (ladybug) | 1048 comments I agree with Eldarwen. :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I like how my captain does it - she makes a new post that goals have been met and who met them, then posts the new goal. She also updates the front page sticky

Today when we had one goal fulfilled, every new goal for awhile matched an already read book. That made 10 goals accomplished total. If this were automatic, would that make 10 posts in a row? I prefer it where it was manually written in one post.

The advent calendar tab on the spreadsheet looks awesome. So Christmas-y :-D

Very nicely done, ladies! :-)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I agree, love the calendar on the spreadsheet.
