Ella Green Why do people even ship Rhys and Feyre? Not only did he drug her, but he forced her to do things she wouldn't want to have done, invaded her privet thoughts, and forced her into a treaty that she didn't want to be a part of. I'm not saying that Tamlin is any better, but that sounds like abuse to me

WinterRose I've touched on this many times, but just to give my two cents.

I personally prefer the chemistry Feyre has with Rhysand, for starters. I like how snappy she is around him, how she says what's on her mind and doesn't hesitate. There's a natural chemistry there.

Their scenes also held a lot of emotional weight. Rhys is the one who came to her cell after the second task and, according to Feyre, kept her from shattering completely. His voice also, during the second task, was like an emotional anchor that kept her standing tall and kept her tears back. I liked seeing how they bonded during that awful time.

The faerie wine. My understanding is that Feyre had a few options. 1) stay in her cell and go crazy. 2) attend the parties. 3) continue the "chores" Amarantha gave her. Rhysand got her out of the chores and got her into the parties. But Feyre wouldn't be allowed to just go mingle and have fun. If Rhys just escorted her there and left her alone, Amarantha would have likely subjected Feyre to VERY bad humiliation and wouldn't have offered the wine, so she'd remember it all. (I'd vote dancing with Rhysand over Amarantha's beck and call any day)

So Rhysand created a role for Feyre, one that would make sure others left her alone: his consort/fling/play thing whatever you want to call it. He too had a role to play, so having her dance for him was a way for them both to maintain their roles. He's more experienced in the sense that he can put on a mask and play a role effectively. Feyre, not so much. Drinking the wine allows her 1) forget her behavior and 2) keep up the facade effectively. By keeping up these roles, they're able to keep Amarantha in the dark about how Rhys was actually helping her.

So while not ideal, obviously, the wine is better than the alternatives (going mad in a cell or being at Amarantha's mercy) and is more of a calculating move on Rhysand's part than a malicious one, IMO.

As for the deal he makes with her...I'm still trying to figure out his motives behind it. I think we need book two before jumping to conclusions there. He could have done it to rile up Tamlin--which was his plan, to get Tamlin angry enough to kill Amarantha. He could have done it because he wanted to get that tattoo on Feyre, which would ultimately allow him to help her. I don't know..there are many possibilities. We've only touched on his motives and need book 2 for more answers there. (I actually have a theory that either the deal is no longer effective, or Rhys was going to let her out of it, until Feyre brought it up. He did say he came to her to say goodbye. I don't think he would have said that if he intended on seeing her again.)

I personally think both Tamlin and Rhys manipulated Feyre to some degree, but I understand why they did. They're both high lords trying to save their people. But I do prefer Feyre with Rhysand, especially how the story seems to be progressing and how Feyre is changing. I just prefer their dynamic, and seeing how they grew and bonded during the trials. I love their chemistry, and how Feyre is so open around him.

Sorry that was long. Hope that makes sense! lol

I could not agree with you more!!! I ship Rhys because he is endgame. #TeamRhysand

Sadaf Rhys has a very honest relationship with her. He does what he does to protect his people and also Feyru because otherwise the villain would have done a lot worse to her. He never pretends to be someone he is not unlike Tamlin. Tamlin actually sleeps with another Fae "for the good of Faery" while he is supposing to be breaking the curse by making her fall in love with him. I don't think Tamlin deserves her at all. Rhys has an undefined relationship with her. Even is they never end up together, I would love to watch it grow.

True, all of it is true...but even though I like Rhys, I also like Tamlin. Tamlin is a really sweet person (at times) but he does what he can for his people, like Rhys. I think Tamlin tried to protect Feyru, by keeping her in the dark, but he wasn't actually protecting her at all. Tamlin has honest intentions, but sometimes they don't come off right... I believe that Tamlin is a good person he just isn't right for Feyru, Rhysand on the other hand is.

I thought Tamlin couldn't talk about anything with Feyru because that was part of the curse?
