It's a trilogy, about a boy who became an assassin
the covers have an assassin with his hood on and some mist/smoke that changes color in each cover. one is purple

the boy(a) grew up in the slums and makes friend with another boy who gets raped and i think there was something bout a dog dying i'm not sure
the boy goes to train with someone to become an assassin
when he comes back he finds out his friend has become a male prostitute.
the boy marries someone- who i'm pretty sure is from his childhood, and winds up getting killed
last thing i remember is that at one point he made a clear distinction between revenge and vengeance and decides he shall take vengeance upon someone.
