It's been years since I read Twilight (6 years to be exact) and I barely remember what happened. I'm enjoying this story a lot more though.

i'm 2 chapters and really enjoying the role reversal. I think there were a lot of spots that Stephenie adjusted the thinking/idea for male vs female mc and I really think it's working
plus her author note talked about firming up some of the language/writing and I think that looks really good too!

Ok I'm 3 chapters in so far, and although I haven't read Twilight in years, nor have I seen the first movie replayed on tv in a very long time, I can still tell this book was basically copied word for word. I'm having trouble reading this as a boy! I keep hearing it as a female in my head lol I also keep stopping to remember who each character is related to from the original which is distracting meeee

By Chapter 4, I was mostly comfortable. Although the Cullens' names and characters still got me mixed up.

I'm up to chapter-8. The book's definitely fun although it took me a really long time to get adjusted to the gender swap.

My kindle has the expected reading time on the bottom and it said the books was almost 17 hours! We only have to read half but still, that is a long time if you are doing homework, have kids, etc (or reading 3 other books like I am)
I am only through 4 chapters so far, but I have to say I am kind of liking the gender swaps of the main characters at least. I can keep Beau's/Bella's friends straight, although I am still trying to get a grip on everyone else because the names are so unusual!

What I liked:

(view spoiler)[I liked that Jules wasn't around much and couldn't annoy me. (Jacob was the one character in the Twilight series that I liked least.) I liked how most of the characters stayed similar even though their genders were switched. The only exception was with the friends from school. The last thing I liked was how the story was pretty much the same except for the ending and a few spots where with the gender roles had to be changed. (hide spoiler)]



What I didn't like:

I did know that is what going to change due to the fact that there was no way Breaking Dawn could have happened with he gender roles switched. I wasn't mad that he decided to a vampire right away. I was upset though that they had a fake funeral for him. Just knowing how hard it was going to be for his family. I also didn't like the girls that he was friends with were more annoying. Overall, I prefer the original to this version. I did really like this version, too. I wasn't surprised that (view spoiler)[Beau became a vampire at the end. Near Death(view spoiler)[ I agree. I wasn't sure how it would all go down for Beau and I agree! I DID think his was more interesting and really plausible! (hide spoiler)]

Meadow(view spoiler)[ awww...I love that their first kiss was after the meadow. It just seems to fit as such a nice ending to their day, right there near the car. (hide spoiler)]

Edythe(view spoiler)[ I like that her formal odd talk hasn't dropped yet. I like it a lot more than it dropped away like it did with Edward. Edythe is really formal speaking almost all the time.
I also like that a lot of her arguments were well done. I think these few exchanges really show how much Stephenie Meyer's writing changed/matured and she was able to really handle a few of spots better with better (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I like the straighforward nature of the characters, and do not miss the follow-me-into-the-woods-while-I-hop-around-and-talk-about-eating-your-face bit. But I liked the scene in Port Angeles better in Bella's story and it makes much more sense to me. It's believable that a group of intoxicated criminals would consider raping a girl out there all alone. Not so plausible that a group of people would shoot a teenager for walking by because he "might be a cop", considering that's like the last thing you would do if you wanted to avoid going to prison. Just sayin (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I think Beau's worrying about Edythe is sweet. He understand that she has her strength but he can't help but worry or try not to add extra burdens to her shoulders.

Most of the scenes that have been changed from the Twilight parts are better in my opinion. I can find them believable and Beau is just a darling! I want to hug him. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I loved the Chase scenes. And how the change went about. To be honest, I prefer this ending. Right now, I feel it makes sense and it tied up the book pretty well.

I was actually glad that the wolves weren't more involved in the book. Also, NO LOVE TRIANGLES! That was the cherry on top for me. There were still mushy moments but those I could deal with. (hide spoiler)]

Great read. 4/5 stars from me.

My rating: 4 stars
I enjoyed both Twilight and Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined equally. In Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, there were definitely some great things like the lunch room scene and the conversations which happen between Beau and Archie (which didn't happen between Bella and Alice). Also, I liked Beau better than Bella. But, I didn't like the ending that much. (view spoiler)[ Beau turning into a vampire, the wolves and Bonnie's kind behaviour were good surprises. But, I hated what happened between Charlie and Renee. Especially Charlie. (hide spoiler)]

I am finally finished! I also rate both books equally. I think I expected Beau to be less whiny and lovestruck than Bella because he was a boy but I was mistaken. I did prefer Edythe's character to Edward's though. He was stubborn, controlling, and a total pansy, whereas Edythe seemed to care more about what Beau wanted and let him make his own decisions. I actually liked this ending better myself. (view spoiler)[ I was starting to worry than Meyer would drag this out as a ploy for more money and rewrite the whole series, but I feel like it ended the way I'd have preferred the original to end. The thing that bothered me the most was the character names! Oh god, they were just awful! We could actually make a game out of this thread, where we just come up with better names that are closer matched to the original ones than the ones Stephenie chose lol Seriously, what kind of boy name is Royal?! Alright, sorry *rant over*

I agree with your spoiler. My dislike for this series was founded because of social and peer pressure but I think I wouldn't haven fallen into that phase if the series would've ended this way.

I gotta day I loved this! I enjoyed it from beginning to end. it was definitely off putting to try and connect who everyone was suppose to be with those terrible names lol and I agree it would be a fun game to think up better fitting ones! I loved t he alternate ending and loved that he got to become a vampire. As I always do with these books I want more lol. I'm still hoping that one day she'll wright more about our beloved character's but this was such a nice treat that will suffice for now :)

Trisha and Grace, you make good and agreeable point. The majority of us have that same issue with the names.

I feel though, that Stephenie wanted to go more 'back to the times' with their names. I still don't know where Royal comes from but most if not all the other names seem to be along the range of what people were named 100-300 years ago when the Cullens were changed. Maybe not Royal. He is something to wonder about.
