Agree.
I had a little deja vu when the Doctor said something that reminded me of the episode "Flatline" and the "Boneless". I had to look that name up I had forgotten what The Doctor had dubbed them and it is not anywhere near what he said in "Under The Lake". :(

I loved the creepy feeling this episode gave, the scary ghosts with their coded message, the writing on the wall, and the fact that the Tardis was scared. Loved THAT.
Will wait for a a few weeks to watch it all together though. I'd rather watch my DVDs of old episodes than endure a weekly sitting of Clara :P
I still find her a bit off even as I am warming to Capaldi as the new Doctor, which I thought it wouldn't happen.
I can't help but picture any of the past companions int the same situation and she always falls short. the writers could have given her a bit more... substance.
The character is a little off-putting to me, I need to "bundle" episodes and watch them in a go or I'll just won't watch at all. And that saddens me, I love The Doctor :(

Feels like after her fan fiction origin was explained the writers didn't know what to do with her, but really liked the actress, so couldn't fire her.
Hope Moffat doesn't kill her in her leaving episode, but won't miss her much when she goes.
and could the next companion be a guy, or an alien, or a tin dog?
I'm pretty sick of cute girls from now.

I'd love them to have an alien companion (either sex or neither or whatever). It would give a whole new feeling to things. I think it would be interesting to have a shapeshifter. Normally I would say having an alien companion would make for interesting situations in historical story lines, but the TARDIS has some kind of psychological field of influence that accounts for odd looks and adapts the TARDIS Crew accordingly that is also why everyone "speaks" with an English (or Scottish) accent. One of the Episodes with Donna (I think the "Fires of Pompeii" with Capaldi and Karen Gilian in supporting roles) explained it a little.
As much as I loved K-9 back in the day I wouldn't want him as a regular return companion, a one-off reunion sure, but it wouldn't be as exciting the second time around.
At one time during the Classic era in an effort to avoid the typical "screaming" female companion they brought in Leela, but later on there were some screaming moments from her. Even Romana did a little screaming.
Melanie Bush. JNT brought the actress on precisely because she could scream. It's my least favorite part of Time and the Rani, Dragonfire, the character ...

Not meant as a specific wish list, more I want just anything but the cute girl from now.
Not that I'd say no to K-9 coming back...
There was such a mix of companion types until about Colin Baker and then we got locked on 'must have a girl and no more crowded Tardis.'
With the new show boys are not welcome and if one wanders in we must get rid of him quickly or kill him several times.
I want a bachelor Tardis crew or a crowded Tardis or a historical companion.
Heck, we have the technology to do Kamelion right this time...!
Definitely. Anything but the girl ... I'd like to see more male companions personally (Fitz Kreiner?). Alien companions. Older companions. Nongendered companions. Maybe even draw a companion from the comic books - Frobisher would be interesting.

Wow, someone out obscure referenced me!
Frobisher! I'd forgotten about him.
Fun companion, be tricky if he stayed a penguin.
They had enough trouble dealing with Martha in the historical based stories.

I loved K-9 :O
And I'm with the "not a girl again" option, I rather liked Rory a lot better than I liked Amy and I thought that Strax would have been a better option than Clara as a new companion.
But...
If they HAVE to have another female companion, I'd love to see Jenny (the Doctor's daughter) in that place. Imagine the fun XD

I agree with all said.
Historical adventures can be fun. I'd like to see some that have some sort of alternate twist that the Doctor has to fix.

Completely!
I'd love to see the Doctor alongside Fleming trying to pinch the Enigma machine in Dieppe, or to know a little more about Queen Victoria's "bloodline" :3

Love Capaldi, but getting a bit tired of can't raise too much effort for the rest of humanity, but is willing to break every rule he has to save Clara.
Bennet and O' Donnel would have made great companions post-Clara.
Really hating the sunglasses.
Love the glasses and yeah, Clara's character needs to take the back seat a bit.
I do think the alien baddie was one of their better efforts costume wise.
It's Who. I don't expect perfection. I expect to be entertained and I was. Very much.

As a monster, he was okay, as the big bad that put this all in motion and the explanation for how it was done, he felt underwhelming and tacked on.

And with ghosts!
Bit jarring that our lead characters seem unaffected by the last story, but so nice to watch just a straight forward Doctor Who story.
Good supporting cast, creepy monsters, intriguing bit of mystery and Capaldi being as Doctory as all get out!
