So this is what I had for an idea for the trilogy thing:

12 Names. 12 Kids. One World. One Chance.

No one wanted to do it, but it had to be done. No one stepped up, so they chose a compromise. A bucket was filled with all the names of every human under the age of sixteen and over the age of ten. They couldn’t spare anyone over that age and anyone under ten was too young to make the journey. It was decided that twelve names would be chosen and after a year of testing, six would make the actual journey to save the entire world.

From the bucket came these names:

Capricorn Byrne
Aquarius LaBerskey
Pisces ______
Aries _________
Taurus _________
Gemini ________
Cancer ________
Leo Keatts
Virgo _______
Libra Perrin
Scorpio ________
Sagittarius Cohen

What was it, fate? Was that it, that these small, hardly significant pieces of paper compared to the hundreds of others, were chosen? Was it fate that had each and every name chosen be one of the most famous constellations in the cosmos? Well, let's just wait and find out what 'fate' has in store for these names...

Well yeah, that's the gist of it, my idea was in the first 'book' the twelve kids are chosen and they are trained for a year, then in the second book the six that are chosen from the twelve make the journey to whatever place they have to go to to do whatever it is to save the world. And then in the last part they actually 'save the world'

It would be set either in a post-apocalyptic world, or another planet in another galaxy/universe.

Um, so feedback? Epictastic Idea or Epic Fail?

Kay!

message 8: by em_panada (new)

em_panada My thoughts....

I like the idea, but 1) what are they saving the world from 2) how are they to accomplish it? And 3) are they saving their world or anothers?

Yeah, I get exactly where you're coming from - this is just a brainstorm kind of a thing, I don't know what those are, or what answers to the questions could/will be...it's still in the process - this isn't like the final thing or anything...

message 10: by em_panada (new)

em_panada No I understand. It was more to myself, but let me see if I can think of anything.

message 11: by em_panada (last edited Oct 04, 2015 12:15PM) (new)

em_panada IDEA!!!!!!!!!!

Ok. So Zodiac signs were originally from Babylonian and Greek astronomy right??? So let's zoom backwards. Think of this kind of like a cyberpunk idea (past, with futuristic elements). So we're in ancient Greece and there are twelve competitors, (we can map this out like you did your idea). You have a whole bunch of legs (have you watched Amazing Race? Where couples race and whoever comes in last loses? Kind of like that). But maybe instead of money the winner becomes praetorian guard or something(?)

Along the way you see their characteristics develop, etc. But you have to have an even number of bodyguards am-I-right?! So the losers have to be in some sort of gladiator fight that determine who will be the next praetorian guard. I don't know, just an idea.

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh...

O's times a quazillion...

But wait, the people who come in last compete for praetorian guard or the people who are in first (in the race thing) compete for praetorian guard??

message 13: by em_panada (new)

em_panada Last. The winner doesn't need to participate.

message 14: by em_panada (new)

em_panada Unless.... The winner wants to trade places with someone else.....

message 15: by ella (new)

ella | 362 comments (I watch the Amazing Race Canada :D)

message 16: by em_panada (new)

em_panada I didn't know they had one for Canada! That's awesome!

message 17: by ella (last edited Oct 04, 2015 02:43PM) (new)

ella | 362 comments Yeah! I started watching it because I live in Canada and it became one of my new favourite shows, so I tried an episode of the american one and didn't really like it, I guess it just wasn't as friendly...

(view spoiler)

message 18: by em_panada (new)

em_panada I'll have to check it out. I do admit..... The American one is very.... dramatic. XD

Wait, so like in golf?? Where the person with the least points wins?

message 22: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Because if the people who cross the finish line in the race LAST get to move on to the next test.... then everybody will be going as slowly as they possibly can and the race could last for, like, forever!

Or I'm just completely missing the point...

message 23: by em_panada (last edited Oct 05, 2015 12:44PM) (new)

em_panada You're missing the point. To no small fault of me. :)

THE LOSERS compete in gladiator-like games.

THE WINNER does not (UNLESS the winner wants to save someone from that fate. Think of volunteers in the Hunger Games)

message 24: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (last edited Oct 05, 2015 11:13AM) (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
(Haven't seen or read Hunger Games, sorry >.<)

So, the losers compete in the games....why?

And the winner..is disqualified from becoming a person in the praetorian guard, or is automatically one of them?

message 25: by em_panada (new)

em_panada (it's okay. I'm basically saying that the winner can volunteer for a losing person so that the loser doesn't have to compete in the GLADIATOR games. But, that would mean that the WINNER if he/she volunteered for a loser would have to play in the GLADIATOR games)

The winner automatically becomes the FIRST praetorian guard.

The losers compete in the GLADIATOR games because there needs to be a SECOND praetorian guard (think of it as a second chance for a better/prosperous future). It just gives the Emperor/Empress added protection, and a chance for the people to root for some underdogs.

Does this make sense? I'm sorry I'm not explaining this too well. XP

message 26: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
OHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

So there are 2 people who are going to be the praetorian guard?

That makes soooooooooooooooo much more sense OKAY great I get it now!

message 27: by em_panada (new)

em_panada Yes. Sorry I did such a poor job explaining... I guess I was just caught up in my mind.... LOL

message 28: by em_panada (new)

em_panada So what do you think? You like it?

message 30: by Kamiko (new)

Kamiko (kamiko1108) | 1125 comments Sounds great, actually

message 31: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Okay, so, maybe why don't we start on the characters, like maybe make sheets for them so we know what they are/what their personalities are, and who we want this story to be narrated by...good idea?

message 32: by em_panada (new)

em_panada Sounds good to me!

So I was thinking we should do this in first, but the main problem with that is we would have 12 possible narration POVs on our hands. We all know how those work out in stories (it gets overwhelming, confusing, hard to keep track of everyone). So I propose we create our own character that narrates the story, maybe like the forgotten 'zodiac' or something, that was blotted out of history.

Your thoughts?

message 33: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Ooooooooooooooooooh..so 13 competitors?

message 34: by em_panada (new)

em_panada We can, but what do you think?

message 35: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
I think it's great!

message 36: by em_panada (new)

em_panada Awesomesauce. So characters. How do you want to work that out? I kind of want to do it with Kamiko, but do you want to take six, I take six, and then we can go over them together or something?

message 37: by em_panada (new)

em_panada We can work on our main MC with Kamiko.

message 38: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Mm, okay! Here's the list again...To be fair how about I pick one then you pick one then I pick one and blah de blah?

Capricorn Byrne
Aquarius LaBerskey
Pisces ______
Aries _________
Taurus _________
Gemini ________
Cancer ________
Leo Keatts
Virgo _______
Libra Perrin
Scorpio ________
Sagittarius Cohen

We don't have to keep the last names...

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Oh wait, should we determine how many boys and how many girls first? So there aren't like too many of one? And also, what should the age range be?

message 40: by em_panada (new)

em_panada Gender is easy.

Capricorn: girl
Aquarius: boy
Pisces: boy
Aries: boy
Taurus: boy
Gemini: boy
Cancer: girl
Leo: boy
Virgo: girl
Libra: girl
Scorpio: boy
Sagittarius: boy

message 41: by em_panada (new)

em_panada Age range would still be fine, I guess.

message 42: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Oh. Welllllllll I was sort of imagining Pisces and Aries at least as girls, Pisces the sort of 'little sister' kind of character and Aries as the....Clarissa-from-Percy-Jackson-mixed-with-like-that-kind-of-thing-but-less-mean kind of a thing.

And I was thinking Gemini also a girl and she would have two personalities, like how the constellation Gemini is symbolic of twins and stuffs.....

message 43: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
And also I thought of Capricorn as a boy...

message 44: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
Here, wait, this is what went on in my brain:

Capricorn: boy
Aquarius: boy
Pisces: girl
Aries: girl
Taurus: boy
Gemini: girl
Cancer: boy
Leo: boy
Virgo: girl
Libra: girl
Scorpio: boy
Sagittarius: boy

message 45: by Ruby, Just plain Epictastic. (last edited Oct 06, 2015 01:17PM) (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 2486 comments Mod
So these are the ones we agree on...

Aquarius: boy
Taurus: boy
Leo: boy
Virgo: girl
Libra: girl
Scorpio: boy
Sagittarius: boy
Pisces: boy

And this is where we differ:

Capricorn
Aries
Gemini
Cancer

So there are 5 boys and 2 girls in the ones we agree on.

Capricorn boy:girl
Pisces boy:girl
Aries boy:girl
Gemini boy:girl
Cancer boy:girl

What should we do? (Sorry for so many comments, I'm just trying to diagram or whatever this out so it's easier to figure out)

message 50: by em_panada (last edited Oct 06, 2015 01:18PM) (new)

em_panada Well, Capricorn is a unicorn so I automatically thought of a girl. Aries is a ram, so I thought of a boy. Gemini are two male twins (so Gemini would most likely have another twin), we were getting a lot of boys so I put Cancer as a girl, and Pisces is a fish so I had it as a boy.

now that I think about it... One twin could probably be a girl and the other could be a boy.... but Castor and Pollux is a bit of a stretch....
