I'm just about half way though the book (chapter 31). I'm not usually a big fan of cyperbunk (I generally like space travel sci-fi) but I'm quite enjoying this one.
I'm having a hard time figuring out when this is set. Hiro's father fought in what sounded like WWII, but perhaps the Vietnam war makes more sense. Anyone have any ideas?
The first couple of chapters were great, I really love the idea of a bad-ass pizza delivery person. It seems that US government no longer exists in any major way. I wonder if we'll learn what happened. I wonder how Canada reacted... This doesn't seem like the kind of world I'd want to live in, but the Metaverse does sound pretty cool.
I'm not a big fan of the long tangents that between Hiro and the Librarian. I understand that it's important to the story, but it really slows things down.
That said, the plot has really grabbed me. I'm having a hard time putting the book down. What are your thoughts?
