I like the way you think kid. Give the following book a try but do not read if you are afraid of spiders :-) I own the hardcover and it glows in the dark. Freaked me out when I first bought it and had to move it out of the bedroom.

A few of his early books are great but I am sort of leaning to the last 10 years for the best. His very very early stuff is pretty bad but enough to keep me reading him. And come to think of it , his early books must have been good because I never have stopped reading them. I think of him as a great storyteller.
There are still a few more days to read Lightning in November :-) I will start the book later today.

Yes. I think he learned very early in his life that he had a gift for storytelling - a lot of this is shared in his memoir, A Big Little Life: A Memoir of a Joyful Dog, which is not only a memoir of Trixie but also the other Koontz family members.
I think there are great books that stand out from every part Dean' writing career. There are some group polls where you can choose favorites and I think this helps illustrate the point. If you look at all the books he wrote during a particular period there will be one or two that stand out. I don't have the earlier out of print titles on the polls. I haven't read any of them and they are not readily available.

Thank you to everyone who read Lightning in November.
Odd Thomas is our December Group Read. Also, Dean's new book, Ashley Bell, will be released on December 8th and we will feature it for two months.

I think there is too much snow and too many winter scenes in the book to read Lightning in the summertime, but that's just how I see it :-)
