Yup! That works as long as you haven't read it yet!

Does anyone know any good spooky story about cemeteries? I'm really scared by the dead waking up but not in the "zombie" kind of scary (zombie books are all about getting infected) just dead people waking up.
Zombie books are okay too as long as the clue of the book is not about spreading the "disease".
Otherwise I'm reading a vampires-through-the-world anthology.

I think the last book I read that I thought was scary was 'In the Tall Grass' by Joe Hill and Stephen King. It's about a couple who wandering into grass and can't get out or find each other.
The Long Walk by Richard Bachman terrified me when I was younger.
I'd love to find a book equivalent of the film It Follows. The idea of someone/something always following me is really scary. You don't know who or what it is ...

I looked Bird Box up and it piqued my interest. It's on order from the library, we'll see if it comes in time. Thanks Michelle!!

Just kidding, I'll try to find an horror book for the challenge.

No joke, I think that totally counts.

Books don't tend to scare me, but I picked up The Prestige because the film is amazing, and the book ending is a lot creepier than in the film.

It wasn't outright scary, but I'm a tough nut to crack when it comes to horror but I was definitely on the edge of my seat, with a knotted stomach a few times, having to read a bit more to make sure all was okay.
People have compared it to King's IT, as it's a story of a group of kids in 1960 in rural America. They've just finished school for the summer and are looking forward to fun and adventures. But, something bad is lurking.
I adore Dan Simmons books, he's seriously one of my favourite authors and I recommend everyone having a try at one of his books.

To me, October brings thoughts of Halloween. Jack-o'-lanterns, skeletons, witches and all things spooky! I also love to be scared, there's something about the adrenaline rush you get by going through a haunted house, never knowing if something will pop out at you and make you scream.
Your challenge for this month, if you choose to accept it, is to read something that scares you. The topic will be up to you to decide. For me it's aliens and ghosts that freak me out the most.
Here are a bunch of lists to help you out.
https://www.goodreads.com/list/tag/scary
You can also ask your local librarian or bookstore help recommending a book!
As always here are the rules:
Rules are:
-It has to be a new book for you, one you haven't read before
-It must be different than our other book picks, so it can't be the same main, comic book, manga or series we are reading that month
-You have to read it within that month to get the achievement.
-Check in with us once you've read your book, you can do that here, on twitter, the IGGPPC forums or our new Instagram page, I love seeing covers so take a picture and share with us!
Don't forget to message me once you've completed this challenge for the achievement code
If you are looking for more scary books, there is an All Hallow's Read swap going on over in the forums! Sign ups are open until Oct 10th! http://geekgirlpenpals.com/forums/top...
