❄️ Propertea Of Frostea ❄️ Bitter SnoBerry ❄ (berrynumey) | 52 comments Is there any fantasy/scifi/YA book with the main character(s) are able to control ice/snow?

Amy (Other Amy) | 198 comments The ability to summon snow is only oblique and develops late in the story, but the MC in Indexing is one. Waiting for the sequel to finish releasing on serial to see if it plays more of a role in the series going forward.

There is of course Ice Man in X-Men, but he was never one of my obsessions, so I don't know what the starting point would be.

I haven't read Terry Pratchett's Wintersmith, but it looks promising. (First books in the series are The Wee Free Men and A Hat Full of Sky.

It seems to me I should know more books on this topic, but nothing is coming to me right now; I would swear I remember a great freezing to death scene based on this, but I can't place it. I'll let you know if it comes to me.

Kirstin | 185 comments The Winter King by C. L. Wilson. The main hero controls ice/snow and the heroine controls storms. They are called "weather gifts" in the story.

Amy (Other Amy) | 198 comments The Winter King looks interesting, Kirstin.

Thanks for the info on Wintersmith, Pamela.

Pamela Love | 1509 comments Another antagonist who controls ice appears in Castle Hangnail by Ursula Vernon. Castle Hangnail This is another book I really enjoyed. It's for somewhat younger readers than YA, though.

You can also check out the Elemental Assassins series by Jennifer Estep. It's set in a world very similar to ours, except that some people have elemental powers. The MC, who is an assassin called The Spider is one of those who can control the elements. She controls Ice and Stone. Spider's Bite is the first book in the series. I know that there are at least 11 books in the series, and there might be more than that.

Jenna | 581 comments Mercedes Lackey's retelling of The Snow Queen; heroine (The Snow Queen) has some of these abilities though it's not the main focus of the story.
