Interesting....not quite how I imagined it would be, but that is perhaps a good thing.

Narcissus and Goldmund
A fairy tale for the demon Lord

I'll Check it out

Deerskin is very....stirring...
Are you liking it?"
Yep, loving it! Great low fantasy novel.
What bothers me is how everyone I meet keeps warning me about that (view spoiler) Um, it's a real crime, it was revealed in the blurb, and has been done before in books fictional and based-on, like (view spoiler) I've read books that feature non-con and monster bestiality (Laymon) so it's odd how people warn me off Deerskin.

I so love that book. Probably one that I've reread the most. It's both entertaining and though-provoking! I've liked all I've read from Hesse, he was one of the favorite authors of my formative years.
So many mixed reactions to Deerskin. Maybe I should check for myself.

Why can't I just stay at home and read all day :D

Hesse is one of my favorite writers as well, I love almost all of his books, especially "Siddharta" and "Der Steppenwolf".

Grumble aside, these are beautifully written and very engaging books.

Next I'm reading Red Rising. I won it in a Goodreads giveaway, so I've bumped it up my TBR list. However, this edition I got is a promo copy. I don't really know what that means, but it's a mass market paperback, and the cover is kind of ugly, but I can't say no to a free book. Anyway, so far it looks like it's going to be a dark read.
Malice, on UK kindle daily deal. I swear they are just listing my tbr! They've cost me £30 this week at £2 per book.

I am new to this group. I have finished The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and Midnight Falcon by David Gemmell. Both were well done. I would have to say I enjoyed the Name of the Wind better but not by much. I am currently reading The Rook and so far have enjoyed it.

now started to read Red Rising since the author has organized a (re)read for it https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... on Goodreads.
So far Red Rising looks really promising.

And am very much enjoying Arcadia thus far(with thanks to NetGalley.)
Comics-wise, I've read ALOT of aweosme stuff this year. What jumps to mind of late is Bitch Planet, Vol 1: Extraordinary Machine, The Empty, Vol. 1, and The Dragon Queen.

Words of Radiance!
Course you might want to start The Aeronaut's Windlass for next month's read.
;)

I also read a lot of wuxia novels and a couple of them take place in about the same time frame as this novel and Under Heaven. It's interesting to read different versions of the same historical events.
I finished The Elfstones Of Shannara and I must say I was very impressed. It is actually better than The Sword of Shannara. I can't believe I didn't read this one years ago. Really can't wait for the TV series. I've started Lords of the North by Bernard Cornwell. It's the third in the Saxon Stories series. It's more of a Historical Fiction story but it does have a small amount of magic in them and they are very well written.
Oh, I almost forgot The first book in this series The Last Kingdom has been made into a TV series also on BBC America. It has been really good so far.

Glad you are enjoying them! I love Hobb's world building and writing style :) I haven't been hooked to a series like this for years!
I had the same problem, so I read Hobb on my kindle so I can change the font size.

It was a nice break, and I did connect it in some ways to other fantasy fiction I'd read. In this book, they walked FOREVER, sorta like Sword of Shannara (and LotR).
Does that count?
Now, I'm not sure what I'm going to read. I may jump into a Ted Dekker book. I have a few superhero themed books. And I still need to finish the shorts in Unfettered.
